For trophy discs in 2008 I was thinking of doing geometric designs like this with tournament and place of finish on the rim:

I can do these pretty easily now.  That one is sold.

They would not all be the same design.  I don't even think I'd do all the same design for one tournament.  Just like I would do different freehand stuff for a set of trophy discs, I'd probably do different geometrics for a set of geometric trophy discs.  I'd probably also do some of my favorite cartoon characters.  I've decided this is a cost effective way to use up old colormax discs and stuff I get at other TDs' tournaments.

Anyway, I think these are a bit cooler than what I have been doing, and they are no longer hard to do.  I can do a lot of the mask preparation, application and removal work while hanging out at the dojo waiting for the karate kid on Thursday nights.

I like these types of designs on discs.  I would keep the trophy lettering small and neat to maintain the coolness of the design.

Agreed.  Block or type lettering as opposed to hand lettering.

I have a couple of trophy discs and for the most part the dye has faded or bled and what was originally written on there is no longer readable.

I've quit doing trophy discs on X plastic for that reason.  The trophy discs I've done on ESP have remained legible.

Yah I have an esp pulse that you made and it is holding up pretty well.  It still looks good on the wall.  I am a fan of the first trophy I got, which was the small home made basket made out of a drain cover and some screws and chaings and rubber stopper.

Just wondering.  When can we expect a reasonably firm IOS schedule for the year?   Also, in a somewhat threadrifting aside-any clue when the club tournament might be held?  Just wondering.

Bruce Brakel

I thought we were just one tournament away from having a schedule.  Some park districts won't talk about 2008 until 2008.  Some people take a week off around the New Year, so today is their Day 1 of being back to work.

Do we have dates yet?

Plenty, but mostly nearer to the highway, about a 5-10 minute drive from the park. I stayed at a Motel 6 two years ago that was pretty cheap but the A/C was crankin!

Bruce Brakel

I think that's all still pretty accurate.  Allegedly I have the green light to start submitting sanctioning requests.  You should see actual tournament dates and actual tournaments names  ;) popping up on PDGA.com starting Monday or so.

Bruce the above post was simply an attempt to increase search engine rankings for those keyphrases in their signature.

This one's a legit post, right?   ;D  Thinking about block lettering really slowed me down.  I'm thinking it is harder and more expensive than I want to tackle.  It would definately look cool.  The work I do on the trophy discs is donated.  Doing sticker mask lettering is more work than I want to do.  I like the idea.  I'd be all over it if someone else was doing the work!   :D
