Hey Guys,
I just wanted to let all of you know that I was asked to join an incredible new band, "West 34".
We had our debut performance at the Penny Road Pub in Barrington last week. The gig went so well that the club called us the next morning to get us back in there. We will be back at Penny Road on December 29th. I hope you all can make it. There are a couple of demo recordings and all upcoming show dates on our website www.west34.com.

Jim is a talented singer, not much of a disc golfer  ;) , but a talented singer.  I am looking forward to checking out his new band.

That was an all pro backhand compliment.  I guess Tom doesn't have much of a forehand. :P

"Much of" is a stretch. Thanks for the compliment.

Ouch...ok Tom.
That's not the first time a Pro Grand Master took a shot at me, or is it Legend yet?
AND...the last time a Vice President got me that good was when Dick Cheney guaranteed that there were WMDs
:o

Just a reminder, if anyone would like to check out my new band, West 34, we will be at the Penny Road Pub in Barrington this Saturday. We go on around 11 PM and play until 2 am.
There's more info and links at www.west34.com.
I hope to see you there.

Go to the website and listen to their version of Summertime Blues.  It is outstanding. Unbelievably good. Wow.

Jim Bassett

Thanks Tom.
Hey, if anyone lives near IL-83 and I-55, West 34 is playing Feb. 22 at Stage 83.
We could use a good turnout.
We also have a couple gigs scheduled for April in Countryside and Lombard.

Kelsey and I watched the 34 West You Tube videos this morning.  These guys are pretty talented.

Thanks Bruce. This band is extremely talented. I have been singing in bands for almost 30 years and this is one of the best bands I have ever seen. My bass player from a previous band recently graduated from Berklee School of Music in Boston. He beat out 200+ bass players to get a huge scholarship. Alex came to our show last week and told me that my guitar player is the best he has ever seen in his life. I asked him if I could quote him. He laughed and said, "Of Course".

FYI, "West 34" is currently playing Classic Rock so that we could get in public quickly. We are working on a 5 song EP that should be out by the summer. We are applying to play summer festivals. If anybody has any suggestions of a place we should apply, I would appreciate it. The band will take up alot of my time this summer and I already miss playing disc golf in advance because I know that I won't get to play my normal 15-20 tournaments this year.

Just a reminder that West 34 is playing Friday 2/22 at Stage 83 in Lemont.

Hey everybody,
Some people have been asking about when they can see this band. Our next show is 5 minutes from Madison Meadows in Lombard. The show is next Friday, April 18th at JT's Porch, located about 1 block East of I-355 on Roosevelt Road in Lombard. The show is early - 8 PM until midnight. So for those of you playing Kenosha the next day, come out and stick around for a set or two and then go get some sleep. For those of you playing Kenosha on Sunday, like myself....stick around for the whole show, buy me a beer, say "Hi", then go and rest for Kenosha...
I work and live about 5 minutes from this bar. There will be a bunch of folks from my work including some good looking women at this show..so you might want to show up, buy one of them a beer and then rest for Kenosha....LOL
Anyway, we have a new recording of a song recorded at a recent show on our website, www.west34.com
"Come On" by Jimi Hendrix" recorded at Stage 83 a couple of weeks ago. Give it a listen and I welcome any comments about the band, the show in Lombard or my poor putting....see you in Lombard

I talked to some folks at best shot in Lombard last night (Where Bob Ryan and I cashed with a -5 in the 40 mph wind) and it sounds like a couple of disc golfers will be at the show. JT's Porch will be packed and rocking. I've now got about 20 people from work coming to the gig. I was at the bar with my guitar player on Tuesday and there were no seats to be had. Hope to see some of you there.

Jim Bassett

I posted 6 videos from the JT's Porch show in Lombard from last Friday.
You can find them on www.youtube.com if you search "West 34" or there are links from the band website www.west34.com
I welcome any feedback, suggestions or whatever.

FYI, West 34 is playing this Friday, May 16th at Bungalow Joe's in Hanover Park - 7406 Jensen Blvd. to be exact. This place is near Irving Park Rd. and Barrington Rd. or almost next door to the Streamwood course. We start at 10 PM.

Jim,  Nice gig man!  I do have a suggestion ... Contact Chicagoland Speedway.  In July is the next NASCAR event, they always get a local band to play duirng the 3 - 4 days of trials etc.  That would be a sweet gig!
