Time to pop this thread back open since the event is approaching.

I just used Priceline to book a hotel right downtown for 9 nights at $45 a night. Can get close to the host hotel without paying triple the price.

Who else is going?

Dan booked a room for us a few weeks ago. Can't remember the name of the extended stay but it's pretty cheap for the week and pretty close to quite a few of the coures. Dan, Dave N., Kenny G., & myself are staying there. I know Tom M. is going as well.

Looking forward to this week-long disc golf vacation.  Kansas City, as a whole, has some of the best disc golf you can find in one location.  I think this will be the best Worlds since Des Moines.  We'll be staying a little east of downtown Kansas City, not too far from the Blue Valley course.  I played Water Works, Swope, and Cliff Drive at the KCWO in 2005 and they were all top notch, especially Water Works.  It looks like the Ams will be playing Blue Valley, Water Works, and a few other courses that I haven't seen before, but look pretty long from what I've seen on dgcoursereview.com.  To anybody going to this tourney, be ready to unleash a ton of long drives for an entire week.  You may need to pack some IcyHot.

Like Taylor, I was also able to find accomodations at a significantly lesser rate than that offered by the host hotel.  The host hotel looks super awesome, just a little more than I'd like to spend for a disc golf trip.  Our room was $60/night for 6 nights.  Can't wait!

I'm super excited for worlds!  I'm camping just a little southwest of KC with a buddy of mine who is from WI.  Should be really good time.

If you go with Dan's attitude you should have fun.  A lot of good courses, players from all over the country in advanced, a couple of parties, good times with friends -- a disc golf vacation.  If you are also expecting a payout, hey, it's Kansas City.  There's no reason why amateurs should expect a payout in Kansas City.  They might do some kind of nominal insulting payout, but Kansas City has a long reputation for giving amateurs good courses, player packs and food.

auren Lakeberg went on priceline as well and got us a room with 2 queen beds, a pool, a hot tub, for 8 days, at $438.00
Will be Chris Brenholtz, Lauren, and myself. Sweet deal for 8 days. Thanks LAUREN!!!!
Very anxious to get back to one of these. Played in 2 before, 1995 in Cincinnati Ohio, and 1997 in Grand Rapids Michigan. Failed to make either years cut. Missed 97's by 1 stroke. My career started in 1994, so was WAY OUT OF MY LEAGUE, trying to go play with the Timmy Gills, and Avery Jenkins. But back in those days, there was, novice, Am 2, Am 1, and Open. None of these ridiculous intermediates, recs, etc. Played in 1 novice, got the win, then 3 Am 2's before making the jump to Am 1, which is now the advanced division.

Should be a great time though. Can't wait. Always a good time getting to see my buddies, Kenny G. and Diabetic Dave!

I envy you. I wish I could be going and playing 16 and under. Have a great time and enjoy it because there's a lot of kids your age that would love to have that oppurtunity.

If there is any way you can possibly attend I would highly suggest doing so. I've heard nothing but good things about KC. This event is going to be huge. In 2004 I learned a lot about disc golf after playing a week of golf in Des Moines. You get to play with a bunch of new players and courses all day long.

Worlds is like no other. In 2000 I caddied for Bruce for the entire week. In 2004 I was the co-TD for the Jr. Boys. I hear its even more fun to play...although I don't think I'll ever have as much fun as I did caddying for Bruce in 2000 or pay for it at the end of the week as much!

I'm heading to KC via Des Moines most likely, as opposed to the STL route. For those that have played along the way, what is the one course that we should hit during the trip? Maybe even two...

If I was you, I would absolutely play J&B Rolling Hills in Lamoni, Iowa.   Its right along I-35 and I've heard its an unbelievable course.  i would love to play it myself.

Second. I've played both Lamoni courses, and while aren't the absolute greatest courses in the world, they're both pretty d@mn good. Plus, Lamoni is literally right off the highway. You can see one of the baskets at J & B from the interstate. The Graceland College course is 5 minutes down the street. I'd estimate that you could play each course in about an hour and a half if time is an issue.
