Pre-reg for 2008 IOS #1 is available!!! I pre-regged Becky and it worked fine. Got the e-mail with her registration info and all. Prices are correct and days are correct.

Go to http://store.discontinuum.org/index.php to pre-reg online. You'll save a couple of dollars over the day of registration price. If you want to save the whole $5 then send a check or money order to the address at brasscash.com. Brasscash.com will be updated very soon. If you see 2007 pricing info there, don't use it!

Thanks Mirth!!!

I now have liquid brains coming out my ears, but i read all that.

QuoteThere is a Discraft player pack that includes any Z or ESP disc and a D disc for $15.00 Brass. You must talk to Bruce and mention this player pack. There are a limited number of these.

Let's change that to:

QuoteThere may be special player pack deals at some tournaments depending on the level of sponsorship we receive from manufacturers for participating in their tournament stamping program.  Check with Bruce at each tournament for the special player pack deal.  Don't be expecting Becky or Maddisen to explain it all to you.

This year we'll have Throw Innova deals and Throw Discraft deals.  The only way I'm going to be able to hold the line on Innova prices is if we custom stamp most of the Innova, but their deals are not so sweet as to make a big dent in prices and do player pack deals.  Innova does about 10% free stuff now which is like 1 brass off my current exhorbitant prices if we were to apply it that way, while Discraft is doing like 30% free stuff, depending on how good you are at playing the free stuff game.  Still, we'd like to thank Innova for making baby steps in the right direction.

And I think we'll change the "Throw Discraft CTP" to the "Innova vs Discraft CTP".  The losing company will pay for the prize out of their sponsorship value!

The IOS where you'd least expect it.

Strange. Now I feel some kind of a connection with a dude on an Isreali beach just because he's throwing a disc with the logo that I made for the tournament I help run.

I wonder if that's the dude that bought some discs from me... I know I've sold some to a guy in Israel.  I'd have to look up the order.  wEiRd :)

LOL, it WAS me! lol  now that's funny.  I had a customer back in June '07 buy a bunch of discs, including 2 green ESP Pulse with IOS stamp.  The guy on the video is not the guy that bought the disc from me, the purchase was for a couple guys.

maybe they'll come out here for a tournament sometime :)

FWIW, the other disc is a dx skeeter - and he's making me feel bad on how hard it is to remove those barcodes - especially on DX plastic.  The other price tags I use I've already upgraded to using labels that are made with a more removable substance (and the latest and greatest stickers won't have the printing agitated when you remove the tags), but I have sooo many blank sticker sheets for bar codes that I don't want to upgrade to the removeable stickers for those just yet!

Thanks for finding that video Brett!

In my opinion this years IOS division/day set up is pretty bad. For one a good amount of advanced and open players are friends and travel together. Next I think it sucks for the advanced players because they can not compare scores to the open players to gauge progress and make a decision to move up and give open a try. Also you see a lot of pro masters playing open because of a small pro master field and because the open div. plays Sat. it makes the pro masters make a gamble of playing Sat in open or waiting for Sunday and possibly having a very small field to compete with. I know the reason for the this is to get players to play both days but with gas prices and other expenses its unrealistic. I think after this year with poor feedback from the players hopefully it will be back to normal but I guess we still have to put up with it for this season. However I am looking forward to the backups caused by the MA2 and MA4 divisions

MA2 this year is what last year was Advanced. MA1 (Advanced) this year will be a very small division unless a lot of players play up. This year's split was not to accommodate players playing both days so much as having enough room for all the players to play either day. We are assuming that players will play in their divisions pretty much as their ratings dictate which means that most players that played Advanced last year should be playing MA2 this year.

I have not really formed a stance yet. I want to see how this is going to play out. We'll see if speed of play is a problem.  The numbers were estimated using the past few seasons at the IOS. According to those numbers the Adv/Pro day would have been filled to the max and turning away players while the Int/Rec day would have had plenty of room. If players stick to the division their rating allows this should work.

The thing I do like about the schedule now is flexibility. Basically only the Open-MPO are limited to playing on Saturday. If you can't play one day you can chose to play another. If you show up on the wrong day there will be a division to play in. Many players have the option of playing both days now with that change of 935 for Advanced.  You'll see lots of former Advanced players playing both Intermediate and Advanced. This might actually help you & I Tom. The Advanced guys may play Saturday in Open then come back Sunday.

Fox Metro Discer

This discussion brings up a question I have. with me playing MA1 this year and my 6 yr old playing juniors, how can I work it out so that both of us can play as our divisions have both of us playing on Sunday? Since I know I need to walk with him in order to keep him playing by the rules and so that if he decides he doesn't want to finish and all.

That is where the flexibiltiy works to your advantage. Having a rating under 935 allows you to play Saturday  in MA2 Intermediate or MPO Open  and walk with your son on Sunday. If you really want to play MA1 Advanced you could always bring your son out Saturday and play in the MA4 Novice. Those options might not ideal but they are options.

Tom -  What if the breakdown was the same way but Open played on Sundays?  Would you feel differently? Personally I like the way the divisions are split, it gives many people the opportunity to play both days. It wouldn't make a difference to me if it was the same split but the days were reversed.
