Sergio notified me about a change in the road at UW Parkside. Hole #18A will most likely not be an island hole but will have some OB. I will get that updated prior to the event.

good cause a 700 foot island hole is a beast of a hole... Alot of people liked it where it was last year... It was challenging cause the ob on the left side and the elevated basket....

I'm not quite sure how this new hole will play out until I get out there to play it & pick a spot for the basket. It's possible there still could be an island using rope but I don't think that's needed.

I actually think the island and pushing it back makes it a tad bit easier if you play it smart. It however gives you some options to go crazy and take huge numbers. Wind could be a brutal factor making that island very difficult to land on.

Old vs Possible New.

Old-> It is very reachable in 2 shots for many players. That 2nd shot is very dangerous with the OB. The elevated teepad makes a difficult green and the OB was right there for air ball putts. You could play this safe and take a par of 4 by playing to the right side twice. Then making a solid pitch up and putt. That's easier said then done. The OB was very close to the basket.

New-> If used the extra distance and small landing area makes it very difficult to stick it on the 2nd shot. If you play it smart you'd keep your drive to the right. The 2nd shot would be short of the road and right. Pitch it on the island and sink a putt. Make or break is that 3rd shot. The option to go for the 3 is there for some players. Can we say big #'s >:D.

for the lesser players you're looking at the same differences w/ an extra shot, in general. The island scenario is a bit more interesting (imo, fwiw, etc.) but I'd vote against any kind of artificial rope maneuvers. There's enough 'natural' options with either choice you'd make (assuming you're alllowed to use the island option....)

Could I possibly play any worse if I didn't practice putting??

Pin placements pretty much the same as last year?  also, what about the hole b4 18A.....the 180 footer where the tee was the sidewalk, and it went downhill along side a building?

I'll try and get the holes moved during the week. There might be a couple we'll need to wait and move so the ground can harden up a little (if that's possible).

In my opinion, course isn't too bad. Yes, it's wet but not as bad as it has been. This past weekend's sun and breeze helped with some drying.

I'll let you know when I move the baskets.

Looks like there are only 4 baskets that need to be moved:
#1 (move to short)
#2 (move behind bushes)
#4 (move around the corner)
#13 (move to long/straight)

If anyone comes to play before these get moved you can throw to these placements as if you were playing the tournament layout.

#1 is fairly wet around the tournament placement so it might need to wait until later in the week.
Haven't looked around the corner on #4. Slope drains everyhting that way so it might be a little wet.

#1 is not looking good right now. Probably won't get moved this weekend.
The other holes should be able to be moved. I'll be leaving for the weekend so I'm going to have someone take care of the moving IF THEY FEEL IT'S OK TO DO SO. It's not supposed to be any drier up here this weekend so if we can keep the pins away from the troubled spots we're going to do it.

Remember, only four holes will be changed from the current layout. They shouldn't make that big of difference if you practice those four to their alternate locations for the tournament.

I can't take the credit for the move...DAVE LIGHT moved the baskets. Dave is one of our unsung heroed volunteers (if heroed is a word). Dave does garbage duty most of the summer by carrying around trash bags and emptying the garbage bins on each hole. HE is the man!

I know someone was asking about course conditions but I can't find it and don't want to look around anymore:

The course seems to be in pretty good condition. Today is pretty windy up here so some more drying may be taking place. Unfortunately, rain is in the forecast for the next couple of days but they do say "moderate" and "occasional."

The following holes are still sloppy either near the basket or along the fairway:
#1 (and walkway to #2)
#5
#8
#9
#12
#16

The wooded area between #5 and #6 is planned to become a pond. The frogs are making beautiful music. It's creeping toward the fairway on #5 and the "green" on #6. Stay right on #5 and left of the pin on #6.

You ruined my strategy, Shawn. Thanks alot.

OK, it's stay right of the pin on #6.

Played 2 rounds out there today, really windy.

Is every division playing the long tees?

I'll have to start playing the longs to get ready for the tournament.  Should make it more challenging/interesting using those tees.
