Subject to anything Jon or Brett might say to the contrary, all divisions will play one round of shorts and one round of longs with one temporary extra hole.

Played 2 rounds out there today, really windy.

Is every division playing the long tees?

I'll have to start playing the longs to get ready for the tournament.  Should make it more challenging/interesting using those tees.

Yes,
All Divisions
Shorts Rd 1.
Longs Rd 2. (Unless wet or raining)

Course map is posted on my last post as well as detailed hole by hole info.

ruh row - I've never even played the longs!  I guess I better get out there so that I can defend my AM4 title lol :) (and hopefully suck a lot less than I did at Kenosha!)

<-- already afraid of hole 3.  Stupid long tee that is far from leftie friendly...  Going to have to go waaaay left.

I can't get anything more than a get out of trouble forehand because I don't want to have my elbow problem from pitching in little league resurface.  I feel twinges of it every time I tomahawk a disc.  I probably wouldn't have a problem tossing out a nice long anny, but I'd be afraid of it not flattening out, hitting the ground hard and then rolling right into the drink.

A couple notes on the longs at Lombard if you go out to practice:

  • On the Google map, the blue lines are the long tees. The red lines are the short tees from the cement (also known as the white tees). We will not be playing the really short red tees.
  • On most longs you can find pairs of blue cement plugs that are flush with the ground.
  • Longs on 1, 5, 9, 16, and 18 are IOS special longs. There are NO blue markers for these holes.
  • Longs on 9 and 18 are currently marked TBD on the Google map. The exact location of these is subject to change. Once they are nailed down, the TBD will be removed.

What's the reasoning behind shorts first, then longs?  That's the opposite of what we did at Kenosha.

The shorts at Kenosha were much shorter cutting the time of the round drastically. We need to have time to calculate payouts and CTP's. This is the main reason.

Lombard plays pretty long from the shorts and the rounds won't be that much different since many holes only have 1 tee. It also gives time to evaluate the course and let it dry up in the morning so the grass tees are not wet. Mike Krupicka also has helped with modifying a spreadsheet for IOS payouts. It has cut the time down so I figured we go with the traditional shorts round 1 & longs round 2.

I think the dew on the grass is a legit concern.  But I paid for the insurance, so if you change your mind and want to throw off dewy grass tees in the morning, we're covered.   ;D

Get a dx driver that is not too stable since you are a lefty like me.  If you throw it straight you have more than enough distance to clear the water.  :icon_cheers: if you hyzer it you are only out a dx disc and life goes on.   :pottytrain5:

Bruce Brakel

I learned how to throw lefthanded when I was 42.  Not a solution for this year, but you do have two arms.  I would think any Am 4 could get pretty good with the off-hand pretty quickly relative to how good they are with the go-to hand.

Are the longs the blue or the red tee markers?

longs at Lombard are marked with blue.  The shorts are marked with red.

If you use the google Map I created, you should be able to find most of the Blues. Keep in mind that there are some longs that we are playing that have no Blue markers, these include holes 1, 5, 9, 16, and 18. Consider these IOS specials. (I believe at this point the location for 18 long is still TBD).

Editted: For the IOS when we are playing the shorts, we are playing the cement (aka white) tees, not the reds.

I will not be at the course tonight. Severe weather is in the forecast for pretty much the entire day today. Bruce might be there. I'm not positive about that.

We will play cement tees both rounds both days. Since I am not going to be at the course today I will not have time to flag & paint the long tees.

The weather looks great for Saturday & Sunday!

Brett,

I'm making score cards tonight so I can reflect the actual setup we will play. Is your course doc updated for distances to reflect only concrete tees for the second round? The words still say that we are playing flags but did you change the distances?

Jon,

I did not have time to work on the document this morning. Just take the Rd 1 Distances. Those are correct for the concrete tees that we'll play both rounds.

If, for some reason, someone thinks we need to let more people play, it would be good to add space for two extra holes on the card.
