Mike sent me the google map. I have to check it over. I have to update the course info page as well. I'll try to get it done in the next couple of days. Summer school info is priority #1. Once that is done i'll start working on it.

IOS #3 @ Crystal Lake

Here is the link to the Krupicka Google Map. Thanks Mike!
I need to add a 4th temp hole so there may be some tweaks. The permanent 18 are good.

Earlier this year the Crystal Lake PD contacted me asking what they should do with $ for the course. I told them tee pads. They said they did not want to do concrete. I suggested ordering fly pads. Fred Vroman called me a little while ago & said they are starting to install them tomorrow. Hopefully all 18 will be in the groud for IOS #3 ;D.

Too bad about the concrete but the Fly Pads will still be a big improvement over what was there! That will be extra-special-good if they're in!!

For IOS #3 hole #21 will be placed on the dirt hill if it's still there and rain is not in the forecast. I have not been out the Crystal Lake since last summer.

It's going to be a starburst shape with three long spokes coming off in boomerang shapes leading back to the tee. Re-tee on any OB shot. Bruce, Brett is going to need you to set up the rope so let us know if this makes sense. (I really just made that up...it just sounded funny to me. Picturing Bruce out there "OK, we need to start with a starburst...")

Aren't Starbursts usually square shaped?   :)

I was talking about a starburst shape, not a Starburst candy as in "Taste the rainbow!". A starburst shape is like an oval with a bunch of spikes coming out of it.

I like the idea of random stripes of out of bounds that are about two feet wide that you cannot see from the tee but are in places your disc will naturally roll to.  You know, like last year's Illinois State Championships.

Got out to Crystal Lake this morning.

I did not get bit once by skeeters.

Fly Pads are nice. They did a good job of leveling them. The only disappointments I had were holes 7 & 9. There was an opportunity to lenghten both of them. #7 would have made a tougher slight hyzer angle and moved the tee pad away from that tree right off the left corner of the pad. Moving #9 back and center could have opened up a double fairway.

There is some water on the course but it wasn't as bad as I expected. The only place the water really affected play was around the basket of #5. I'll bring an extra basket next weekend in case the water is still high. It will be placed on one of the tree stumps to the right if that water is still there. Extended forecast is calling for a fairly dry week.

Hole #19. There is some fairly deep water to the left of the pin.
Hole #20. Do not throw in the tall grass. (3 minutes to locate disc).
Hole #21. You will have to throw across the water to the basket. There are bail out areas to the left or right. If the weather is good the basket will be moved farther basket to a more elevated area.
Hole #22. Rope OB.
