At my work we might be organizing a "Biggest Loser" challenge as part of our annual get fit efforts.  I don't think it's endorsed by the company (although what they do endorse is bringing in a nurse for health screenings for cheap, provide healthy snacks for employees for the month of may, bring in a trainer to help 2 days a week in a "boot camp").  It all culminates in a 5k walk/run for the entire company to go out and have fun as a group outing.

So if we do have this contest, it will probably start next week and run through our 5k event (usually the end of the first week of June).  we're going to have weekly weigh-in's, and then the person with the greatest percentage of weight lost will win.

While people here wouldn't be able to participating in our challenge, I'd still like to put the challenge here for some of the heftier folks.  I know that a lot of the disc golfers are pretty thin and in shape, but there are a few of us that make the scale recoil in fear :)

Since there's no way that I could verify your weight, I can't hold a competition here.  However, it would be nice to do something that is on your honor as a personal challenge for the next 7 weeks or so.  I'm hoping to cut out pop entirely - and there's a good chance that just cutting that out will help me drop 10-15 pounds in a couple weeks.  That happened to my dad.  He later went on a detox program that lasts 2 weeks and lost another 15-20 pounds.  There was exercise involved as well, but he dropped about 60? pounds in about a year, something like that, and that was a couple months before he died.  My mom has lost probably 40+ pounds from doing similar.  Now it's my turn :)

I'll post my progress, and I encourage others to do the same!

I'm down 25 pounds since Christmas.  I've been seeing my doctor regularly for blood sugar and blood pressure readings.  So long as I'm losing weight, I'm borderline and can stay off medication for either.

I started by giving up sugar pop, and lost about five or ten pounds with that over a year.  Now I'm eating sparingly.  Officially I'm juice fasting but I cheat some.  I eat for tournaments.  I eat when Leo is buying.  I eat when food gets left in the car.  Every day starts good and then my resolve slowly breaks down.  But I'm losing weight.

I'm still losing.  I'm down 30 or 35 now.  I really cannot remember where I started except that I was 257 at the doctor's office at my highest doctor's office weight, gained a few more, and then started this weight and sugar control thing.

I ate for the tournament this weekend, but it was on a ski hill course, so I'll probably be down a few in a couple of days.  Not carrying around the extra weight gave me an unfair advantage in the fourth round!   ;D
