It was nice to see the Sox put a hurt on the Tigers. Especially nice to see Crede get a couple of grand slams in this series. He had a miserable spring.

i've made a commitment to Crede now on my fantasy squad, so he better not screw me over.  i am hoping for .280  30/90/90

There goes Crede's good season down the toilet...

;D

I listen to ESPN 1000's afternoon show on the radio (Mac Jurko Harry), and each season they have a series of White Sox vs. Cubs bets.  The one that I thought was pretty intriguing that a listener submitted was to bet # Crede's home runs for 2008 vs. # of Kerry Wood's saves.  Both run the risk of the DL, both have the potential to do great or both stink.  Makes me wish the Cubs had more clutch hitters that would get those big knocks whenever needed.

Going to be a fun year for both teams I think.

Tom,
I was at the game. Two Grand Slams! Sweeeeeeeeet.
I have seen a handful of GS in my life in person including a Fisk Grand Slam that I have pictures of, but NEVER two in one game by the same team.
Detroit was picked by many to go all the way but it sure doesn't look like it now.
I don't think they have the relief pitching to survive.

If Floyd and Danks can win more than they lose, the Sox could be there in October.

Dan Michler

Yeah get your hopes up Sox fans!  That way it will hurt that much more when you get crushed later this year.

Detroit is too talented not to win.  I agree their bullpen sux, but they'll get it together and make a run at that division.  The season has barely started.  Its a marathon not a sprint.  Miguel Cabrera hasn't done anything yet which I guarantee will change.  He perennially hits .320 with 30 jacks, and he'll find a way to get somewhere near those numbers by the end of the year.

Nice Jim. That must have been very exciting.  The last grand slam I can remember seeing in person was when Ventura hit a grand slam off of Goose Gossage in a game that Nolan Ryan started. Ventura hit it in the bottom of the ninth to win the game. It was the game that Frank picked up Robin and bounced him on his shoulder. I think it was in 91, the first year at new Comiskey.

Dan,
Of course my hopes are up... that's what makes me a Sox fan.
If my hopes were constantly dashed by the same team over the last century, I would be a Cubs fan.  :o

That is great Jim.

Sox win again. Hopefully Thome will start to warm up.  The Sox have been getting some very good pitching. And Buerhle's era is below 36, fantastic.

What's the feeling around the division now that the Tigers offense has woke up?

Dan Michler

Being in 1st place in April is nice, but it your still 5 months away from winning anything.  If the rotation for the Sox is really as solid as its been in the 1st month, then they could contend.  That is a big IF though.

Jenks blew another save today. But it does look like Konerko is starting to hit. Hopefully they can win a couple up in Minnesota.

The way it's looked, the rotation will remain solid.  It's the hitting that I'm worried about.  Konerko is coming off a down year, and is ice cold, Thome isn't hitting.  The guys that were hitting early aren't hitting right now, and the guys that weren't hitting earlier, still aren't hitting.  If they can keep 4-5 guys hitting well at the same time, they should be a tough team to beat.  When anyone can shut you down, I don't care how good the pitching staff is.

Nice weekend vs. the Twinkies. Perfect evening Friday. I parked in a Sox lot around 515. Walked a few blocks to IIT and played 13 holes in a fierce wind. Walked back to the car to drop off my bag. I then watched the Sox spank the Twins with  client who is a big Twinkies fan. Crede was hitting everything in sight.
