I have diverticulitis, a pinched nerve in my right foot, and, for good measure, some kind of dermatitis on my forehead. So, you're probably better off not asking me how I am this weekend!  ;D

However, I did get permission from my doctor to take 4 ibuprofens up to 4 times per day for pay relief for my muscle disease. I've always been afraid of taking too much ibuprofen and causing liver damage. My doctor said to make sure to take it with food and it'd be ok.

I got diagnosed with diverticulitis a few years ago. Ordering food will now become very annoying for you...

Jon has experience with diverticulitis so this was caught much earlier than last time.

Now the trick is to find low fiber food that I can keep in the cooler for the weekend at Crystal Lake!

Why LOW fiber?

At first he was on just liquids and antibiotics. It is recommended to do low fiber while on the antibiotics to let his gut heal. He follows the low fiber until his next MD appointment.

Good luck Jon. I will save a piece of pizza for  you.  Or, we might just consider ordering a fresh pizza once your colon calms down.    It sounds like typical treatment. I saw this on a Mayo Clinic page:

Self-Care
If diverticulitis is treatable at home, patients should expect to remain quiet for a few days. Antibiotics will be prescribed to help kill the bacteria causing the infection. Patients will also temporarily need to avoid all whole grains, fruits and vegetables, so the colon can rest and heal. Once symptoms improve (often in 2 to 4 days) patients can gradually start increasing the amount of high-fiber foods in their diet.

I guess I forgot about the low fiber part while on antibiotics. I just know now that fiber is my friend.

I have Crohn's disease and another reason for the low fiber is that the body does not digest the fiber completely and it can get stuck in any open sores that the infection may have caused and therefore make the condition worse as well. Same thing with nuts, popcorn, and spicy stuff as well.
At least you don't have to cut out caffeine as well with your condition.
