Disc Golf Alley Club Meeting - Saturday Oct 11th @ Lou Malnatis Buffalo Grove

The Disc Golf Alley Club of Illinois would like to have a club meeting on Saturday, October 11th at 11AM at Lou Malnati's in Buffalo Grove.  Please let me know ASAP if you wish to attend as we need to tell them how many people to expect (and they'd like to know Tuesday if at all possible).

We plan on discussing the state of leagues, the club and the future has in store for this club, and trying to see if we have any additional supporters out there.

We'd like to ask that you be a club member to attend, and you can purchase a 2008 membership for half price ($5) and still receive a super nice bag tag.

We'll play for tags after the meeting at a course in that area.

As an FYI, we have voted to dissolve the Disc Golf Alley club effective at the end of 2008.  There was a lack of people who wanted to get involved, and DISContinuum and Fox Valley Metro are doing a great job of promoting and expanding the game.

I've been very pleased that Fox Valley, Disc Golf Alley and Discontinuum members and players can get together and various factions of them run tournaments and just generally have fun. It seems we are now starting to make some friends in Rockford and we can continue our work together to help the sport of disc golf.

I'm sorry that Disc Golf Alley did not find its niche but there are opportunities in the Discontinuum club. I know that there will be at least one officer position that will be available for 2009. Technically ALL the positions are available since the entire board runs for election every year but there will be a vacancy this year.

If you want to be involved, all you need to do is do something that someone doesn't have time to do or help someone with something that is too big for one person. Rarely does Discontinuum post that someone HAS to step up to do something. More often than not when you see something new being done it is because someone approached Brett and said they'd like to do "X" next year or next month or whatever. Then before you know it they are in charge of "X".

I think the club scene in northeast Illinois is much to be commended compared to the club scene in southeast Michigan.  It seems like everyone in the Chicago area works together to make tournaments happen.  Around here there are a lot of territorial animosities.
