my vote was scewed as I did not consider the cost of gas, which was quite high at the time of tournament. I used the federal mileage reimbursement rate. That is the true cost of driving to the tournament.  Its about 190 miles round trip but with drving around town I figure I was at 225. The current rate for depreciation is .585/mile.  If gas stays low I suspect it will go down.  I stayed  in a very cheap hotel for one night and split it.  I ate pretty cheaply even with a nice dinner and a couple beers on Saturday night. Still, considering the depreciation, I was over $200 even though I was likely out of pocket only about $100....getting a 5 on the 900 foot hole...priceless!

I spent a bit less than Dave since it was his turn to drive...  ;) .

Outside of the entry fee (dirt cheap, esp. considering the amenities) I also contributed about $100 to Rockford's economy, and I'd gladly do it again next year. Probably would go for a slightly more upscale motel, but dinner was great....

btw, DB, was your vote 'skewed' or 'screwed"??  :D
thanks,
Damon

Could I possibly play any worse if I didn't practice putting??

we came with three on sat. morning.  sent 65 on gas 60 on hotel.20 each for food for both days.. without the entry fee we prolly spent 60 a piece each.. and thats for a close tourney... if it was a far one we would spend somewhere along the line of 150-200 a piece... depends how many days and how far...

I drove up with another guy (Noah Brooks) on Friday night. We camped at Rock Cut Park for about $20 for the two nights. (Met another guy and shared the site.)

We had a nice dinner at Applebee's that ran about $20 a man.

We had two cars and mine for sure got filled up at a station for $45.

Other meals such as breakfast and dinner ran another $20 a man total.

The three of us then probably put $200 into the mix. I voted with just my expense in the $50 - $100 range.

My brother and I spent over $200 each in Rockford.  We arrived Friday noonish.

The main costs were the hotel, gas, snacks, Hooters, and cigs.

I still thought it was pretty cheap considering everything we did.

The average answer right now is $98 to $137+.  If the survey reflects a random sampling of our players, we brought $19,000 to $26,000 to the Rockford economy.

That is right on with my estimation. I said $20,000 to $25,000. Don't forget there were nonplayers and family that traveled along as well.

Sounds like some people here included others in their total. There's a difference between "we spent" and "I spent" when replying to these surveys, especially if you're trying to then take that number and multiply it out by the number of people that were there.
