The Disc Golf game on Tiger 10 looks pretty good.
http://gamevideos.1up.com/video/id/24451

This looks really awesome. Its too bad they put the baskets on the greens. maybe that will change. Just read this article about it, http://www.ea.com/news/tiger-woods-10-wii-tournament-mode. You will need an addon for your remote called the Wii MotionPlus, http://www.nintendo.com/whatsnew/detail/eMMuRj_N6vntHPDycCJAKWhEO9zBvyPH, to play this game. I did find this bundle at GameStop, http://www.gamestop.com/Catalog/ProductDetails.aspx?sku=230592&WT.mc_id=tw20. I will be preordering mine this afternoon.

I think it is appropriate to put the baskets on the green. Golf courses are designed with the green as the placement for the target. Disc golf courses that share ball golf courses do not put the basket on the green because the discs can cause more damage than balls. However in a video game this opportunity to play the course as designed is opened up.

let's just hope that this is the first successful version of many and then maybe one day its own release.  Right now it looks like you get your choice of 3 discs, that's it, and the driver and mid-range looked to be semi-overstable.  The bounce of the disc at the end of flight looked more like a ball bouncing/thumber disc landing than what a disc that is hyzering would do - on short grass you'd expect more of a skip than a bounce landing.  It would be nice to have long distance under straight and overstable, fairway drivers of the same, mid's, and a couple putters.  I do like that the sand traps are OB.

In time maybe they'll start to recreate actual disc golf courses (eg. starting with Winthrop Gold), so that way it would have a lot more disc golf related obstacles (aka. trees).

Based on the motion it didn't really look like they were offering an overhand shot (other than just holding your arm that high), and I don't know what plans they might have for sidearm or roller shots.  Based on the remote just going off your motions, you might be able to pull off a sidearm, but again, this is just version 1 of hopefully many!

Is the motion plus a hardware add-on or a different controller or what?

pretty sure it pops into the bottom of the controller, where the nunchuck would usually go.

Yes from what I have read that is how it works. It looks about 1inch long and the same width as the controller.

It looks like the Wii MotionPlus is retailing for $19.99.  That's not too bad; I paid $10 more for a docking/recharging station for the controllers.  It looks like both the MotionPlus and Tiger Woods PGA 10 are set to release in June.  I wonder how hard it will be to get a MotionPlus.  It would kill me to buy the game & not be able to play it.  It sounds like the MotionPlus is required to play it.  Is that what you read, too?

I suggest going to GameStop and putting $5 down on a pre-order of the bundled game and MotionPlus.

Thanks for the tip.  I reserved my bundle today.  $60 for the bundle; a $10 savings.

Games i'd like some opinions on.

Tomb Raider UnderWorld

I solved the very first Tomb Raider for the PS1.  Tomb Raider underworld has the same spirit, and the puzzles are a little more intuitive.  I think there were some puzzles on the first one that were not as intuitive and hard to find.  I can lose interest if I spend too much time farting around in the same puzzle.
I'm on level 4 or 5 right now on Underworld and I'm happy with the game play and the puzzles.  It may be a little on the "easy to solve" side, but I'm happy & still interested.

Got Tiger 10 with the MotionPlus yesterday.  The golf portion is sweet, very hard for me so far but i'm just getting used to it.

As far as the disc golf game goes, it has a cool feel to it like your really throwing a disc.  However, its super easy.  My 2nd round I shot -14.  If I played again I think I could get a -18.  I probably won't play the disc golf much anymore because I bought Tiger 10 for the actual golf game, but I could see little kids enjoying it more than the ball golf portion.

Bottom line, don't buy Tiger 10 for the disc golf side game unless you enjoy just throwing your money away.  Play it once or twice at a friends house and that will be enough for you.  It would have been nice if they could have made it harder, but its unbelievable exposure for the game of disc golf, so I'd say its nothing but positive for our sport!  They have a little intro calling it one of the fastest growing sports in the world.

Yea I would have bought the game for the actual golf too if I had a Wii, right now I just play my mario golf on the gamecube, lol. Anyways, I don't know if anyone else knows about this other disc golf game for the Wii. It looks harder than the one on Tiger 10. It comes with the game Big Beach Sports and is one of the many games on the disc. The disc golf course itself is placed on a beach with much more obstacles than you would get on a golf course. Click the link below to see a youtube video on the game. The picture is not the greatest, but it does a decent job showing you the actual gameplay. I don't own a Wii so if anyone has this game or gets it let me know how the gameplay is. Just another game advertising disc golf to the world.  ;D

My daughter bought me new Wii game because it had disc golf on it. I haven't played it yet. The thing is I'd rather go out and hit an actual course. It's kind of like they bought me the Wii Game that has cornhole (bags) on it. It just isn't the same thing, and if when I play, the physics just aren't right. It was obviously made by someone that hadn't really played before.

I have that game.  In terms of being real, TW10 is much better with the motionplus, but big beach disc golf has more options.  You can actually throw side arm and there are more obstacles.  however, it's extremely easy like disc golf on tw10. i played that game the first weekend and i got it and now it only comes out when i have people over.

I got tw10 for the actual game too and was well worth it.  it is really fun to play and the swing is pretty good at being realistic.  the career mode is pretty solid with different features to keep you interested instead of just playing tournament after tournament (challenge mode, match play tourneys, etc.)

WOW. I wish I could play a real disc golf round that fast and that good if I wanted to.

Jon Brakel

Now that we are done, done, done with our apartment, I've had a chance to play a couple of rounds of disc golf on both TW10 and Big Beach Sports. I'd say that both are fun but not exactly disc golf simulations. I think TW10 looks better and is a "little" harder but the physics of flight are better in Big Beach. I would say that they are both tied for the best disc golf video games that I've played...but there's lots of room for improvement. One thing that I can say is that for someone who has not been able to play disc golf for over three years it was a lot of fun to throw a disc...even if it was virtual.

Brett, I bought Mario Cart for the Wii also...ready for you to school me!  ;D

I think that TW10 with the Motion Plus is a great game for the regular golf portion.  The Motion Plus does a great job of picking up the rotation motion of your wrist, and makes the ball golf pretty challenging.  The disc golf portion is really easy and not that challenging.  I may break it out at parties for fun, just like Wii sports.  There's also no tournament or career options with the disc golf portion, like there is with the ball golf.

Currently the PDGA are in cohoots with a programming coompany that is making a disc golf game.  The game has been under development for some time and was going to be released last year until the motion plus was announced.  so in order to make sure they could produce the best product they have reprogrammed it to be capatable with the motion plus.  The game will recreate some of the best/well known course in the world.  it will be called PDGA presents Disc Golf.  From what I understand you will be able to throw multiple ways  and with a number of different disc molds and models.  I believe that they are looking for a release date closer to the end of fall when a lot of disc golfers start going indoors.
