Brett called me last night. He and the Clan of the Cave Brakels are in Michigan on disc golf holiday.

Well, they were. Until the lights went out!

.....hee-hee......

Also, Brett told me that an article covering the IL Open will appear in today's (Friday, August 15) issue of the Waukegan News-Sun newspaper.  I am buying about 20 copies at lunch and will bring them to the meeting on Sunday.  Brett says there should be photos and scores listed. COOOOOL!!!!!!

Now, why the hell don't they ever come out to our events @ Bevier?

Maybe once we start sanctioning them they will.

They have. Mike Schmidt (News Sun photog) got us in the paper twice in 2001.

And we haven't run any events since then?

We've played 8 courses & 191 holes so far. We are planning on playing another course tomorrow so we'll be over 200 for the week. See ya Sunday.

I got 20 copies of today's Waukegan News Sun. I'll drop some off after leagues.

Front page of the Sports section, taking up about 70% of the space.

"Disc Mania" and "Disc Golf Tournament" were the headlines.

BIG picture of Jay putting with clearly Gateway plastic (and he doesn't look like an axe murderer :) ), a pic of some tyedye discs, and another pic of two groups walking their holes.

It also gave the top three scores of all divisions.

Very nice. Except they spelled Jay's last name wrong, Alex's last name wrong, Adrian Jr's last name wrong, and somehow thought that Damon took second place in IntAm Masters!

Oh wait, he DID! Woo-hoo!

This article is small but excellent!

They have. Mike Schmidt (News Sun photog) got us in the paper twice in 2001. World's Biggest, and the first Blast, I think.  You were there, I believe. I'll bring copies on Sunday if I can find 'em.

jim

ohmygoodness!  I've gotta become a teacher and have 3 months off each year! That's a lot of golf!

The News Sun is either fickle or disorganized or both.  Mike Schmidt (photog) makes it out when I extend a personal invitation that includes free food. :)

He's a good guy, but I think the Sports Editor needs to receive a call this time.

Very Cool!!! I think the RLAPD contacted all media in the area about the tourney. I'm glad it made it into the sports section.

This week has been awesome!! The lights have not affected our play. We've played 8 courses & 191 holes so far. We are planning on playing another course tomorrow so we'll be over 200 for the week. See ya Sunday.

Silver lining is that you don't need electricity to play disc golf. Today we went far enough out of the area that we could get some gas. We have taken Brett to 8 courses he hasn't seen before in 5 days!
