     I can understand that you may feel that these are negative posts. This is a place to express your opinions. We've had many heated debates, but in the long run, it has helped our club grow. There are several members who bring great knowledge about disc golf to this forum. I'm sure you took offense to the post by Bruce. He meant no harm. He is very experienced in disc golf. He's older than most of the trees on each course :)



 I want to applaud you for all your hard work on geting 2 courses started. It's tough work & I think you've done an outstanding job. It's taken us several years to add 3 new holes @ Bevier, improve Fairfield, & finally get a course in the ground @ Wildwood.



I too agree that there is a safety concern with the design of the Mundelein Course. If it gets used like Fairfield & Adler, there could be big problems. 1 being safety & the other being players having to wait to play these holes.



Disc golf in the Northern Illinois Area is counting on these courses to be nice with no problems. Any bad experiences with these courses may cause other park districts to shy away from disc golf. Word does travel between park districts.



Please don't take offense to these comments. Most people out at Fairfield have no clue who I am.  People tell me all the time how much they hate the tee pads & the tall grass. I just ignore it.

A relatively unrelated relative of mine (she's my wife's cousin's wife!) works for the Mundelein parks and rec. She does stuff like runs the building that you can rent for a birthday party and stuff like that. Anyway, last spring she told me that the parks dept. was having a contest for all the parks staff to design a disc golf course. I volunteered to help her and tried to get more info, but was unsuccessful. Also my father-in-law just retired from the Mundelein parks and rec maintenance staff. At Christmas they both had cheap give away quality frisbee knockoffs with Mundelein disc golf course printed on them. They used these to play the object course that the winning dept staff designed. They also said that they were going to put in a nine hole course and were considering making it 18. They did not know what park. After the holidays I'm going to make some calls to find out what's going on and volunteer to walk the course before they put it in the ground.

Mundelin Course slated for Opening. Design Work Done, Full Cooperation and understanding from Upper Management of Village.



Proper channells are being followed, Ie some members of community have some issues..NIMBY. Opening day sometime in Early Fall.



Location is Leathers Park in Tullamore Rt 176 West 4/5 Approx Mile past Midlothian Rd. Left turn BarnHill Rd follow rd to park entrance and park.



Play is 9 Holes 18 of Course if you go around twice. I have played prototype and it is very nice. I feel there will be no complaints from players of all skill level.



Course was designed to use optimal return of space and provide a challenge. Suprise, Long thrower will enjoy probability of aces. Due to design Par Three Max on all holes. Strong first shot and you can get 2.You can get your arm loose here and be fairly challenged. Creek comes in to play on 1 @ 9 . Elevated tee boxes and Targets Flat Blind shots plus comfortable landing areas. Mature trees, Challenging target locations.A little bit or everything. At a smaller Park. Do not expect to see concrete anywhere (ALA Fairfield)Shared postholes and Tee areas add to course playabilty and Character, Support from players and community is a must.

This is the best that can be done with space to maximize playability.



Also remember that Players will look out for one another.  Courteous Play Highly Recommended.  Waiting to throw or watching out for other players and park patrons is the price to play for no fee.



Its a win win and plus it plays great... Please play it then let the board know how you feel.

In the best interest of the game. MPD DGC will be targeted at a beginner to novice player. Its layout will stimulate creativity and still provide for a challenge for most players.



It will be somewhat of a learning center for youngsters, and young adults to get their feet wet in the game. Creating a signature course at this time not in the cards. Creating excitement and generating new players in the area getting a community involved. Get some momentum. Provide fertile ground for a strong future.



The Discontinuum board and its members have been of great help.



Im personally excited, young players can be exposed to a great sport ;We as seasoned players and adults can use this as a platform to teach and expose our sport to a newer generation. Step 1...
