Hell yeah! Now go draft some WR's & Def.

I thought the Bears signed Orlando Pace yesterday but I guess he was just visiting.

I am impressed. Never thought Angelo or the Bears had what it takes to pull this off. Now Cutler needs to stop being a baby and the Bears need to find him someone to throw to.

Good luck to Orton. I think he will be a good QB in the NFL.

They have done a pretty good job of fixing the OL. Other then the health concerns.

If they can find a pass rusher and a WR ,who can read the play book, in the draft they might actually turn this thing around.

Well this should atleast shut the fans up to endlessly whine that the Bears never make any big deals and have never had a QB.

We were a 9 win team with Kyle Orton and a mediocre defense last year.  With Cutler and an improved offensive line, people are going to be expecting atleast 11 wins from this team.  I'm not sure if that will happen or not, but its about time the Bears did go out on a limb for once and take a shot at a big name offensive player.

I'm definitely looking forward to seeing Cutler play for us.  Should be interesting.  We should remain a run-first offense in my opinion, and hopefully Cutler can make defenses more honest and open up that run game even more.  He can definitely throw the ball downfield, which is good news for Hester.

I'm saying we win 11 games next year and will be a force in the NFC playoffs.  Looking forward to it!

If Cutler can control his diabetes and stay out of the bar he will win at least 10 games. I don't think he has a long career ahead of him with the severity of his illness, but you never know.  It's win now baby!  Will Orton become a star now? What are those odds?

Do we know the severity of his illness? I think he could last 10 years and be successful for the Bears. I think he would know by now what to do to keep the Diabetes at bay, and it hasn't effected his play yet.

I think in every way this makes the Bears better. I think the WR's will improve by having a QB that can get them the ball in stride (see Devin Hester), and with the addition of Pace, the O Line is better than it was last year. Having a deep threat QB will open up running routes for Forte. The Defense should be improved if Tillman and Vasher are actually healthy this year. If Orton was able to win 9 with last years team, I can't see any reason they can't win 11 and win the division this year. I still think they need a real #1 WR, heck I'd settle with a 2 at this point, and help in the secondary if they are going to go far in the playoffs, but they could win a game in this years playoffs as the team is built now.

Ron Santo was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at age 18 in the 1950's and was given a life expectancy of 25 years.  He went on to play a borderline Hall of Fame 15 year Major League career.

In the 21st century with the absolute best medical treatment at his disposal, I would not say Jay Cutler does not have a long career ahead of him because of diabetes.  Its a severe illness, but he knows how to deal with it.

From what I hear, he has to check his sugar level 15 times a day. And like I said, if he stays out of the bars. He is known for the nightlife. Alcohol and diabetes is a deadly combination. I pray that he does the right things to stay healthy!

Dan is right.  Santo was the first guy I thought of when I read Sr.'s post.  Alcohol is an issue that he will have to deal with.  However, he can still regulate his doses for the nights at the bar.  I never think of any NFL player outside of perhaps a 5-7 year window at best. He is much more likely to blow an ACL than have uncontrolled sugar keep him out of the game unless he is a fool. For the next few years it looks good.  We will see.

All right. Our WR issues could be over. Plexico Burress released today. Go pay him!

I have a feeling Plaxico is going to be suspended by the league for at least a year. It might help in the future, but I doubt this year

Stan the Blue Man

I heard bear r talking to former ram pro bowl WR tory holt he will be a very nice addiction to the bears WR core holt 1 and hester 2 that will be a scary combo

Denver needed 1 win in their last 3 games last year and didn't get the job done. Cutlers rating was 50 in those 3 games. The rumor was bar life got in his way. Did you know Orton was better in the red zone than Cutler last year?  Wins and losses don't even come close to comparison. I know people are all giddy about Cutler but I have been a Bears fan way to long to get carried away about a new Quarterback who is 17-20. Can't wait to see what happens though!  And by the way, Santo didn't drink. He took good care of himself from the moment he found out he had diabetes.

I was a Kyle Orton supporter last year, but Cutler clearly has a skill set far beyond Orton's.  He can run and has maybe the strongest arm in the league.  He threw for 4500 yards last year in only his 2nd year as a starter.  Red zone numbers can be deceiving when Orton had a legitimate ground attack supporting him and Cutler had nothing. Give him some time to mature and develop into a smarter QB who can also manage a game better.  Peyton Manning threw alot of interceptions and was not a winning QB his first 2 years as well.  And in all your years as a Bears fan, I don't think you've ever seen them acquire a QB as talented as Cutler.  There is good reason to be excited for Bears fans.

Don't get me wrong, I like the trade. Just stating facts. I am also excited to see what happens. And you are right, Cutler is the most talented quarterback since Jimmy Mac. But we also have a general manager who has trouble with draft picks and building a team around certain individuals. T.O. would of been cheap and he passed on him. When you don't have receivers and a proven one is available, go get him! I love the Pace acquisition but I want to see Cutler and the Bears chalk up some victories before i praise him. Seen to many losses and not enough wins for a franchise that almost invented football.
