Tim from Fade Gear recommended this place:
Moonlight Bay Marina - http://moonlightbaymarina.com/about.php

This is also the place where he has arranged for a player party with a live band to play from 9 to midnight.

Should be a great weekend :)

I may camp out there that weekend. Any recommendations on campgrounds?

the closest place to camp is ruffet park on rt 30 by rockfalls. moonlight bays camping is no good unless you have a recreational vehicle or wanna get eaten by bugs. a lot of bikers are usually at moonlight bay partying, so it'll be a late night if you try to camp. the bar at moonlight is nice and the food is decent, i have jammed out there on several occasions for birthdays and stuff. hopefully the band isn't Space Juice for they bring a crowd you don't wanna be involved in.

here's a link for ruffet park:

Are you bringing the family?  If not, we could share a camp site.  I was thinking of urban commando camping for this one.

My wife hasn't decided yet, I'm going to guess probably not. I'll find out her plan and get in touch with you. Are you towing or traveling light since you don't have merch?

Travelling medium light.  Probably driving the big towing van.

I need to find out from Becky if she and I are doing the hot dog lunch.

I need to find out from Scott and Brett if I should bring the popstand, or if Scott has that covered.

If I'm not bringing any of that, I'm driving the silver and rust van.

One of the reasons why I go for urban commando camping is for the quiet at night.  The idle humming of two dozen diesel engines, if I cannot find anything better, is nothing compared to one DJ playing bad music louder than his speakers can handle.   ;D

I know that Tim had talked about maybe bringing some stuff to grill some food for people on Saturday? not sure about sunday (I think he was planning on playing Sunday).  I typically have gatorade and water for drinks, so we can take care of all that - so sit back, relax, and just enjoy being able to play an IOS and not have all that extra hassle :)

Are there any good clean hotels that are close by that have a whirpool and a restaurant bar?

there are plenty of hotels once you get into Sterling. Not sure on the whirpools and bars. Pekin is only about an hour and a half, so never have used the hotels. Heck if I remember right from last year.... turn right out of the park and there is a hotel close, by the Wendy's.

Sr - I'm looking at staying at either the Country Inn or Holiday Inn.  Country Inn I think is $100 a night, but then if you stay for 2 nights you get 15% discount, and Holiday Inn is $89 (pay up front) or $94 (pay when you stay).  Both are in Rock Falls, and you drive past them before you get out onto the interstate again.

That hotel has not been there for 20 years. The building is gone. The closest motels are right off the Interstate exit for I-88 and Illinois Rt. 40 in Rock Falls.

There are always plenty of Bars. Palms, Kellys, and so on, all about 1 mile form the course in downtown Sterling. Right near the course there is also Applebees and a couple other restaurants that serve.

I am trying to line up the appropriate PERMITS to cookout for the crowds. I should hear by Friday the 26th. I was planning on Brats, Hot Dogs, Pork Chops, etc. I will be cooking both days. All proceeds go to the local group for improvements to the course and additional holes.

Tim- You gonna have some of those new bags with ya?  Will you be making a backpack bag anytime soon?
(sorry for the slight thread drift)

Brett- When do you anticipate that the pins will be in tourney position?
Vibram Disc Golf, Ledgestone Insurance, Paragon and Whirld Sports are all cool. Real cool.

There is a good chance the pins will not get moved until Friday before the event. I need to talk to Gabe.

Hey Dana,

I'll make sure that everything that Tim has currently in stock will be available.  I don't know if his new shipment of stuff will make it in time before this tournament (I hope so!), but I do plan on holding onto some of the Black Hole's for this event (and supplies are almost gone on these!)

I handed out a bunch of Sinnissippi fliers at Fox Valley doubles in Aurora tonight, it sounds like a lot of people are planning on going.  It's going to be an awesome time.  A number of people were talking about playing the Friday night doubles too.  I might play it, not sure.

I should have some nice new Gateway plastic at the tournament too.  Any requests?  I know I need to pick up some SS Voodoo's.
