And since it is not enforceable by the league whats the point of saying something in my group if they decide to smoke?

I can already see them calling me a pussy for encroaching on their "right" to smoke and it would really make it worse.

The point is that smoking weed is still illegal in the US.  I sure the heck don't want non-players looking down at us like we are a bunch of pot-heads.  Hell, right now a park could pull out the baskets and say "Tough shit, you pay nothing."  But if we don't give them the reason to, they generally let us continue playing on our merry way

Well to tell you the truth it's sure as fuck not advisable to say on a public forum that your going to call the cops reporting players, then have the nerve to show up and play. You really think that is cool to do? I think you will have more problems to worry about than being called a pussy bro.

And to answer your question, YES that would be the right thing to do. I've played tournaments and we all follow the rules. Many people in my groups have asked politely for people not to smoke and that is more than fine in tournament play! This is doubles man, c'mon you have to be kidding with all this crap.

Priests molesting little boys is illegal so why should we take the church seriously?

Move on with this right wing bull shit guy..

Tell ya what then..

You pay for my doubles fee for a whole year okay?   $7 is expensive to some people and Id rather not risk getting a partner who thinks its okay to light up and thinks he plays better stoned.  Like last Tuesday before the Ace was won.  For the last two Tuesdays, all my group cared about was smoke and try to hit the ace.  Didn't even CARE to try to place.  I brought it up with my partners and they either just shrugged or said to just "chill" out.

Hey, you all act like its your free right to smoke weed (which it isnt) so I have the right to say anything I want about the matter and also DO something about it.  You don't like it, then YOU can go join a different doubles league.  Tuesdays at Adler will still be going on if any of you left.  It's been going for years

Kind of like the couple making out on the fairway of 7a few weeks ago.  I kept telling myself  "I won't hit them, I won't hit them"

Turns out I burned the disc towards them but thankfully it flew over their heads haha  Never saw anyone get up that fast and walk on

No, I'll tell you what! You fuck off, fuck of again, then once more for good measure. I don't give a rats ass about your weak financial status, I don't share that with you. That's like buying a big boat then bitching about how much gas costs, or better yet one of those dumb ass home owners who went in head over heels on an ARM loan not realizing that if their payments went up 100 dollars, they'd be screwed! If you were my partner for the last 3 or 4 nights, you would have cashed so what's the problem? Also, I almost nailed the ace in the playoff last week and I would have totally split that with my partner. If you are my partner I will not share a fucking dime with you.

If you get wiped off the planet the world will go on... Which I really hope that happens. If your so tough, then come over by me tomorrow night and we can have this discussion off the E thug record.

You just answered your own questions.  There really is no point unless you actually decide to address the perceived problem at the time it is occurring and with the people who are causing your "problems".

While I certainly respect your opinion that you do not want "non-players" looking down at you, maybe you should show them your way of playing disc golf and acknowledge that there are people from all walks of life that come together for this great sport.  There it is....spend time spreading the word instead of hoping for a chance to make minimal money at league play.  I will gladly pay you $7 per week if you spend the next 10 years "spreading the word" instead of bringing your negative attitude to leagues.

Don't forget that people are HUMAN and therefore will always make mistakes.

Will you continue to complain if the current hot topics are 100% eradicated from the game?  I would have to say yes, you will simply find another issue to bitch about in the future.

I don't have mod rights on this part of the board but if I did I think I'd lock this topic for a few days until you guys chill out. you've gone from a heated conversation to just slinging mud at each other.

Everyone should just chill out. Go play some disc golf!

Jon - not sure how I overlooked your mod privs in this forum... that'll be rectified shortly.

As far as the topic in question, I agree that a lot more discretion needs to be used when participating in 'Disc Golf Heratige' activities, to borrow a euphanism from a previous similar topic from several years ago.
At the same time, its amazing how far a courteous discussion with the rest of your group will go. Be up front and don't wait until its already happened. Most disc golfers are mature enough when politely asked to abstain or at minimum keep it out of sight and out of smell. Unfortunately there still are some who will bristle at the mere notion of being asked to keep it on the down low.

Its a tolerance issue on both sides of the subject; municipal, state, federal laws notwithstanding.

On the subject of garbage on the course, its been my experience that 99% of the people that play in leagues are also the kind of player that will pick up their own and others' trash both during league and while playing a round at their local course.

You are spot on Mirth. Bruce Glass and I as well as Jordan constantly pick up trash at many courses we play. Hell Bruce and I walked around Fink and picked up trash on every hole! 35 beer cans, 20 or so bottles and all kinds of plastic bags.

I can't stand people that think it's cool to litter. To me, that's worse than anything..... well except homeless people sex. I never want to see that ever again in any park!

hey mods  -  just delete the whole the  thread

fathergod you state
There has been a recent argument in the Adler Course topic and I wanted to bring the converstion here because I think it needs to be brought up.

i disagree    -  the topic/conversation  has been beat to death and does not need one more useless thread devoted to it

not directed at anyone in particular

every one is going to do what the heck they want to do consequenses be damned
unfortunately,  the other people's choices limit yours and you are correct,  it should NOT
you have the right  to expect that the group respect your choice not to smoke

what if you fail a drug test at work becaue you were standing near people smoking pot ?

I would like to be there when the cops get called - how realistic is that - some one record it

as for the trash , I have picked up alot  in my years
Karma is my b)*ch !

Couldn't resist.  My fellow Sox fan inspired me...

Light up in the park
and you just might feel God's wrath
perhaps light headed.

ChrisE

I gotta say, the whole discretion of not lighting up around 15 year olds, at this point that does no good.  I just graduated high school, so speaking from first hand view of it, half the high school is on drugs, and thats the way it is at most schools.  Middle schools and some elementary schools as well.  Also, realize, if you do smoke on the course, there is a chance someone may call you in.  You are in public, and therefore run the risk.  Think of the parents of the 4 year olds at the playground at Adler.  Off duty police officers.  There are people out there who will call.  But it is still your choice.  The law says no weed, but it also says no stealing and no killing, both of which still happen.  You can disobey the law, but you may get in trouble for it.  Your choice, your risk.  I think disc golf gets the bad reputation more from the high school students there with heroine, more than the adults with weed.  Most people will not see the weed, but simply see someone, not a teenager, playing a sport.  That looks good to most people.  I do not like that people smoke out there, but ya know what, its your own choice.  You are all old enough to make your own choices.  Just everyone realize there are consequences.  So don't threaten anyone that he should show his face, and don't tell people they cannot do something.  They can do what they want, and if someone gets into a fist fight, police will get involved.  It won't solve a problem, just make another.  The number of people on here compared to the people out there playing, a discussion here won't change create any universal change about drug use.  So really?  Is this arguement worth the time?

So, you are saying that second hand pot smoke would NOT  show up on a test ?

You would need to be in an enclosed confined space, eg: a hotbox situation, for you to get levels needed for a positive dipstick test. Nobody drops the coin necessary for an initial test using GCMS equipment. We're talking about the difference between a $5 disposable test and a several hundred dollar time consuming effort.

That being said, holy cow folks just use good judgement. Naturenut is 100% correct that anybody in the park who takes issue with any sort of illegal activities are fully in their right to call the police. Now, whether the cops show up in time to bust some hippy disc golfers is a separate subject. Maybe if they don't have something better to do they'll hurry over but unless they're in the park already I wouldn't expect to have the cavalry come in sirens a-blazing.
