New Players---Disc Golf Post-Round BS

If you're new to the game you might be feeling insecure after a poor round at a tournament.  Don't worry, just say 3 or 4 of the following things and you'll fit right in with almost every other disc golfer I've ever met.  Just remember, a bad round is never really a sign of your skill level.  There were freakish circumstances that led to your poor performance and you just need to let everybody else know what they were.

Disc golfers seem pretty insecure when things don't go well.  I've heard even the top players use the most ridiculous excuses.  I wonder if PGA Tour golfers have similar post-round conversations?

Most popular B.S. statements after tournament rounds....(i've used several of these frequently myself!)

I got spit-out ___ times.
I shot ___ here yesterday.
I've never played that bad in my life.
This guy in my group was annoying me the whole round.
I had ____ OB strokes.
I ticked every tree.
I've never seen so much bad luck as what I had.
I missed ____ 15 footers.
This other guy in my group got sooo lucky.
This guy on my card kept walking in my line.
We had to wait on every hole.
I just came here to have fun anyways.
I can't believe I lost to _______.
I never shoot good in the rain.
I never shoot good when its cold.
I never shoot good when its hot.
They put me on a card with women. 
They put me on a card with juniors.
I was throwing really good, I just didn't score well.
I was playing awesome, until _______ happened.
This course is gay.
I'm just not used to playing in the morning.
I stayed up until 4am last night.
I'm not used to playing sober.
That was such a lefty course. 
I gave up after Hole ____. 
If I just would have laid up I would have gotten ___ place. 
Those baskets suck. 
I had to play with (choose one) Spazz/Ron Huspen/KVN/Tom McManus/Taylor Cimala/Dan Michler.
This guy on my card was taking it way too seriously.
Man, last year I finished in ___.
That was the longest round I've ever played.
I ran out of water out there.
I just never shoot good in tournaments.
That OB was so gay!
This tournament is a joke. 
What was with that basket on the picnic table? 
The TD is such a homo.
I never shoot good in tournaments on my home course.

It was a huge headwind for our group on every hole.

scary how many of those I've used myself, and then as a TD I've noticed a lot of people have to come up and tell me the same reasons as I'm going to check the scores.  It's ok, we all have bad rounds

I've frequently used "it had a great line until it hit a tree" as my excuse for many poor scores post round.
This lefty willl happily take more lefty courses, but then I'll still wind up sucking at them anyway because of some other excuse.

Dan, that list was tremendous.  Every time I am tempted to use one of those lines a better one comes to mind.  I use it all the time, "I sucked today."  If its a really bad round I might say, "I sucked even more than I normally do today."

This might be related to "The TD is a homo" but I've also heard a particular player blame the "Brakel curse". We've never cursed anyone but one player seemed convinced that he only played bad at Brakel run tournaments so he dubbed it the Brakel curse.

I did find myself calling out a 'Brakel 5' once @ Rockford when I was not only over 2M up in a tree, but had a terrible lie when I marked it on the ground....

That is some good stuff!

I have a preround suggestion. Use your player pack disc during the tournament. Throw it on as many holes as you can. This will gurantee a lower score  .

It's also a game of one-upping.  If your excuse is that you had 5 splash outs, then whoever you are talking to had to have at least 6.  If you missed a 15 footer, they missed two.  The thing to remember about post-round banter is that everyone is listening to your story about your round only so they can get a chance to complain about their round to you (which was of course more unlucky then yours) before moving on to tell everyone possible the same story.

Ha!  Oh yeah, its always great to hear they guy who just shot -10 tell you about how it should have been a -14.

Please people.  Use caution when busting out these excuses.  And always remember the #1 rule....nobody cares.

Dan, you should put this on a shirt and sell it at tournaments. It would be easier to wear the excuses than to try to tell them to everybody after the round.

That way I can just point to excuse number 36 (I got bit by a snapping turtle 5 min before tee off!)
