Played this course again today. Lots of wooded holes, but many are very short. I think the bulletin board said WCP was somewhere around 43, but I could be mistaken.

43 sounds right, rather easy layout for how many trees there are.

Rounded out my stay in the greater Madison area with a round here this afternoon.

The course is in fair shape. I realise its on a college campus and all, but in the woods you can't go two steps without encountering some type of trash on the ground. Bottles and empty cups all over the place, plus your typical assortment of wrappers and misc. junk.

The scenery was awesome! Fall is in full swing in that part of the state, and the trees and green plants are showing off their colors.

Of course, all those leaves meant that I had to kick clean the fly 18 pads, but that wasn't all too big a deal. There was one pad on the front nine that was a little slippery because of excess sandy soil, otherwise I had no problems with footing.

Shot -4 for the round, if WCP is a 43 that would mean that I played the course around a 930 rating.... right?

correct with the rating, wrong with the Fly 18 tee pad.  They got a cheap, slick rubber mat that people think is fly 18 but not.  If you ever play on a true fly 18 you will not forget.  They are very grippy when not dirty, even in the rain.  When I played on a fly 18 course, I could feel my old knee injury come back to life as I was having problems following though with my pivot foot.

Sorry to hear about all the trash on the course.

Ohh.... are there any fly 18 courses within a 3 hour radius?

Not in Wisconsin...I think Jon and Bruce know of one in Indiana area.

I played this course for the first time today.
It is not too bad. Not overly challenging but nice layout. They could stand to level out the mats. It was pretty messy . Lots of trash, bottles and cans laying around especially on the wooded holes. Maybe they haven't had thier spring cleanup yet and I am sure this course is being well used by the Madison disc glofers.
I will be back for further investigation.

Ha. I almost played baraboo today.... Maybe I shoulda?

That would have doubled the number of disc golfers on the course.
Any time you are headed this way and you want company on a local, or not so local, course shoot me an e-mail.

I just got a call from our realtor tonight telling me we are done negotiating on the home we want. We will be moving in the week of April 26. It is located in DeForest. Just 5 short miles north of Token Creek off of Hwy 51.
I can get to Token Creek faster than I could get to Parkside from my home in Racine.

Congrats, Pat!  That's so very AWESOME!!!

Well, if you have to have a home course, I suppose Token Creek is as good as any.  What am I saying???  I'm so jealous!!

I know this is an OLD thread, but I played here last weekend with Ben & Marie Schwinn. They said the college is talking about taking the course out to make space for new buildings & some student housing. If you're in the Dells area it's worth hitting up. Longs are fun. Sandy soil does make the tee pads they have pretty slippery. I coulda used a broom out there.

mirth

That sucks. If I'm still working at the same place next spring I'll have to head up to play it again for old times sake!

If they take it out then I guess it will be more motivation to design an 18 holer on work's summer camp.
