When will pins be in tourney positions?

Dana,

We are using multiple pin positions for the tourney - almost ever basket on the South Course will move from Saturday to Sunday...  Only the new #3 and new # 5 will have only one layout - everything else moves.  We will have the course laid out in the Saturday layout within the next 10 days.  We will be having pvc pipes that come out of the ground about 3' marking the other pin layouts for the Sunday so any advanced or pro that comes and checks out the course early will be able to clearly see location and lines...

If you have suggestions - we are open to them - you tell me what makes it easier for you as a travelling pro to make the most of your pre-trip and we will do our best to have it done for you.

There will be some OB's marked with string during the tourney to seperate the courses and some of the fairways...  There is still some consideration for mandos, but I lean against those...  and we will have the 10m circles marked during the tourney.

Dear Illinois  PDGA member,

We would love to have you come and see the good things happening at Lincoln Park in Springfield .  Come and "Throw 36 on 66"...

The Mother Lode on The Mother Road is a two-day event for the Advanced and higher divisions and a Saturday only event for intermediate and lower...

On Saturday everybody plays both 18 holes course in Lincoln Park - the newly tweaked South/Gray course and the newly installed North/Blue course.

A non-sanctioned one round $15.00 tourney has been added to the schedule for Sunday, so if you are going to be in town because of your Mother Lode carpool - sneak a tourney round in at Douglas in the morning before catching some Gallery Action over at Lincoln Park South.

A special thanks goes out to Miles Parkhill, proprietor of PARAGON DISC GOLF for hosting this additional tourney at Douglas Park on Sunday Morning.  Along with hosting the One Round at Douglas Park on Sunday, Paragon Disc Golf is the title sponsor of this B-tier.

Please check out www.paragondiscgolf.com for more information about the National Ace Bounty and how you can win $100.00 for your aces thrown in PDGA events during the calendar year with a single entry...

Registration for the Mother Lode and the One Round at Douglas on that Sunday can be done online here:

http://discgolfclub.org/proshop/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=9

FYI for those players who like to get some practice in before an event - all the baskets are in the first day tourney layout...

The South course is now in the new layout, so start following the new flow - this includes 3 new wooded holes...

Follow the NexTEES to the next hole.  We are proud to announce that Lincoln Park is the first facility outside of the PDGA Headquarters to have NexTEES installed... We think you will love'em as much as we do.  NexTEES are yellow arrow indicators installed at the base of the baskets that point you in the direction of the next tee area.

Here is what we have waiting for the Advanced and above for the second day of the event...

2nd Day Layout - 21 holes of Lincoln Park - South in a mood...

The inner circle of 1, 2, and 3 North will play as A, B, & C...

A: Asphalt parking area across the inner road across from #1 South - the Right Pin Position of #1 North
B: Blue Teepad of #2 North to the C Position of #2 North
C: Blue Teepad of #3 North to the B Position of #3 North (Parking Lot Pin)
1: Blue Teepad for #1 South to the B-Long Position of #1 South
2: Blue Teepad for #2 South to the B Position of #2 South (Valley Pin)
3: New Wooded Hole
4: Old #3 South from Blues across the Lagoon to the Club Titan
5: New hole across the meadow and up the hill into the woods - dual route
6: Old #4 but with a new Blue Teepad up on the hill in woods to the long pin
7: Old #5 Blues to the short position on hill's edge
8: Old #6 Blues to the long - blind basket to the right
9: Old #7 Island hole to the long pin position at the base of the hill
10: Old #8 Blues to long pin
11: Old #9 Blues to new pin position back in the woods just in front of drop
12: Old #10 to new pin position in the woods to the left of current pins
13: Old #11 Blues to the deep position down the hill - dog leg left
14: New woods shot from Blue Position to Long Pin across the retaining walls
15: A short walk across the bridge to old #17 Blues to Long Position
16: Old #12 tee to Old #13 Alternate B Pin in the Valley
17: Old #13 tee to Old #13 A Position
18: Old #14 White Tee to #5 North Pin - approx 950 feet.

Avoid the $5.00 day of registration fee and register early for the tourney in the club's online proshop - you can choose PayPal, credit card (see directions down the left side of the front page of the proshop), check, cash or money order...

Remember there is a non-sanctioned one round tourney on the Sunday for those staying in town because of carpools or for the locals who want to play - online registration for that event - $15.00 - so drag some friends along and split the gas and lodging.

The host hotel is the Howard Johnson which is just on the other side of Lincoln 's Tomb from Lincoln Park

You in a carpool with guys or gals playing both days of the event but you are playing the one day of intermediate, novice or rec?

Non-Sanctioned tourney for you on Sunday Morning - 1 round at Douglas Park...

Tom McManus

For anyone who hasn't been to Springfield, try and head down. The Springfield Disc Golf Club puts on a great event.  The course at Lincoln Park is outstanding.  It is one of the nicest disc golf settings in a city park.

Jwt4412

Want to take this time to thank the weatherman for sponsoring this years Mother Lode...

Had some rain last night, looks like some rain to come on Wednesday night.... BUT the weekend is looking like partly sunny and 71 degrees on Saturday and 74 degrees with the partly sunny on the Sunday.

Come get you some...

Jwt4412

Currently sitting at 46 48 pre-regs.

Your half of the 50/50 CTP would be $30.00 cash as of this hour.

Tom,

As it stands right now... 10a.m. seems like when we have people start rolling out.  If the field fills some more,  we may start earlier.

Here are the Day 2 Distances...

393, 411, 392, 433, 360, 175 - wooded hole, 600, 180 - wooded uphill hole, 476, 268, 367, 320, 375, 765, 241, 547, 369 - wooded hole, 374, 372, 226, 969

Advanced and Open players will be challenged with this layout.

Jwt4412

Course is in Saturday Layout...

Sunday Layout...

The pins are there and most of the alternate pins have a pvc pipe sticking up in them...  I have a couple of more pipes to add...

For those coming in ahead of time to practice...

1 - moves to the long pin
2 - moves to the valley pin at the mouth of the woods
3 - same
4 - will be across the pond - there is a nook across the pond - right side of the fountain if you are facing the pond.  I have to clear out some of the brush there, but that is where the Titan will be on Sunday
5 - same
6 - moves to the long pin just past the grouping of guardian trees on the hill side
7 - moves to the short position on the hillside edge just past the pine
8 - moves to the long position - blind tee - small area passed the tree line - it's sits about 25' from the banners the park district has up at the mouth of the park - center of the clearing.
9 - moves down the hill towards the Lincoln Park Entrance sign
10 - moves to the long - tight towards the inner road o.b.
11 - moves into the woods another 130' from the old pin - almost a direct line from the pads... if you go over the edge of hillside, you went too far...
12 - goes into the woods on the leftside it's back about 70' into the woods
13 - down at the base of the hillside in the downhill dogleg
14 - across the retaining wall amphitheater on the edge of the pathway overlooking the pond.
15 - around the corner along the inner road about halfway to the alternate pin for #13
16 - it will be in the pin position that 17 is sitting in for the Saturday round
17 - moves back up on the hill from the valley - left of current position
18 - you will throw from the white tee to the #5 basket on the north course.

The course is set up as it plays Saturday? And the list above is as it is going to play on Sunday? I just want to be sure I understand the plan.

Thanks,

Tom McManus

Jim-

Is there a sports bar down there to watch the hockey game on friday night?  Also, do you recall the name of the springfield restaurant that was featured on Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives?

Thanks,

Stan the Blue Man

Thanks,

I think it is called Charlie Parker's

Jwt4412

Charlie Parker's.

One of the Cash Sponsors for the event is The Corner Pub and Grill - should be a good spot for the Hockey Game - I would think.

And the Course is set up for the Saturday Round now...  after Saturday's rounds, a little army of volunteers moves the pins to the alternate locations for Sunday's round.

Kind of the same thing we would do for the ABE and the ABRAHAM - the non sanctioned tourneys we have when we move the course into its seasonal layouts.

Jwt4412

52 pre-regs.

After today's showers, we are forcasted for PERFECT weather for this weekend.  Mid-70's.

Just need to clarify...  some questions were asked.

All of the Advanced divisions and all of the Open divisions - play both days.

And all those divisions are playing the same layout.

On Saturday - Intermediate is playing the White Tees with Rec and Novice playing the Red tees.
