The Discraft One-Disc Ace Race will be held at Jericho Lake Park in Aurora, IL on Saturday, September 18th.  Tee times will start at 11 AM, and there will continue to be tee times every 20 minutes until about 2:40-2:45 if supplies still exist and there are still players that need to tee.

The entry fee is $25.  You get 2 prototype discs, a hat, supercolor mini, sticker, and new this year: a chrome bag tag.

Registration is now available online http://www.paperorplasticsports.com/2010/2010acerace.html

I ask that if you plan on attending and are able to pre-reg, please sign up early!  This will help make sure that I order the appropriate number of player packs.  Last year I ordered 92 and we had 85 players.  I was afraid we were going to run out!  I'd much rather have more than enough than turning people away from a day of having some fun!

Last year close to if not more than 40 aces were hit!

Come on out and have some fun!!

only 8 days away!  Player packs are due to arrive next week.  Pre-registration will guarantee you a player pack, and selection of hat color, disc color/weight, will be distributed on a first come, first served basis whether you pre-register or not.  I will probably start allowing people to take their player pack starting around 10:30 AM.

I took a picture of the ace race bag tags - very nice!!!  I attached pictures of the front and back.  The space in the center spins around.  It's a very nice new addition to the player packs!

The Super Color mini's have 3 different designs.
Disc weights are mostly from 170-177+.  I do have some 160-166 and a couple at 167-169 and also a couple at 145-150g.  I will have a scale out there for people that want to weigh their discs to get two matching weights (I weight a couple "170-172g" stickered ones that were actually 176g!).  The 170-177+ discs are all either white or orange.

There are 9 colors of hats, including red (looking at you UD).

I went out to scope out where i'm going to put the holes and test out the discs.  I would not be surprised in the least if these replace the Wasp (and I wouldn't be surprised if it was called the Hornet).  It's more stable than my Roc, but wow, these things are going to be popular!  From my predicted tees I hit one ace and one metal, so hopefully others can do likewise!

I have 124 total player packs available for purchase, and I currently have about 30-35 players pre-reg'd with a LOT of verbal commitments to come on out.

I will start allowing people to take their discs to start testing out at around 10:30, and tee times will start at 11 AM.  First come first served on the player packs!!!

51 players came out to answer the challenge in this year's Ace Race at Aurora.  It was a VERY close finish, but Brian Cantrell aced with his last throw of the day to take the grand prize with 3 Aces and 2 Metals.  He narrowly defeated Vince Cannuta who had 3 aces, 1 metal.

For the 51 players, a total of 25 aces were hit.  2 people had 3 aces, 4 people had 2 aces, and 11 people had one ace.  Congrats to Karen Jackson for being the first person to hit an ace for the day.

If anyone wonders: nobody wound up acing the mini basket shot.  Case Jackson came the closest smashing chains but the mini disc bounced out.

I still have about 60 player packs left - if you are interested in picking up a set for $25, just let me know!

We WILL be trying to run another ace race event - probably at a course further north in Illinois, in October.  Watch for details!!

For those of you who have not heard - the Ace Race disc is now PDGA approved!  They named it exactly what I thought they would name it - the Hornet.  It's stability is rated a 2, although the Wasp was only rated a 1.5.  I would argue that a Wasp is more stable than the Hornet.  Regardless, it's now PDGA approved, and all ace race discs can immediately be used in all PDGA tournaments.

Thanks all for your support in this year's ace race!  Our event placed in the top 3 as far as # of player packs ordered, so I won a new Discraft Chainstar basket!  Now there will be one more premium basket available for tournaments in 2011 :)

Still plenty of player packs left - $25 for 2 ESP Hornets, a Discraft hat, chrome bag tag/keychain, supercolor mini, sticker, and pencil.  Just send me a PM!
