Men That Care
Disc Golf Tournament

Tazewell Woodford Head Start is a federally funded preschool program for low income and under privileged families. We at Head Start believe in including fathers, grandpas, uncles, and positive male role models in our program to help negate some of the negative impacts of the absentee father in the household. Studies show that when the father is missing in the home, the likelihood to drop out of school, teen pregnancy, incarceration, and drug and alcohol abuse (to name a few) increases dramatically.

The Men That Care group will be hosting a disc golf fundraiser this spring to help fund some of our interactive outings. In the past we have taken hundreds of children to Rivermen Hockey matches, Bradley Basketball Games, Peoria Chief Games, fishing trips, etc.

When: Saturday April 30th Registration will be from 7:30-9:00
Players Meeting at 9:15 and play begins at 9:30

Where: Washington Park in Washington, IL

Costs and Divisions: Open- $40
Advanced $30
Intermediate $25
Beginner $20
Women $20 (if enough women we may divide divisions)
Juniors $10 All juniors will win prizes

At this time you may pre-register by mail to Johnnie Harrison at 1000 Koch St. Pekin, IL 61554. Please make checks payable to Tazewell Woodford Head Start and state which division you are wanting to play in. Paypal may be opened at a later date. 100 players will be the max for tourney so please pre-register.

Lunch: Food will be provided on site for $5 per person between rounds.

Payouts: 50% of the registration fees will go to the Men That Care Group and 50% will be paid out to the top 1/3 of the field. Open division will receive cash and all other divisions will be paid in PFC fun bucks and prizes. Some cash has already been added and this will be added to the Open division payouts. Even though this is a fundraising event, our hope is to get enough merchandise and cash donated to make the payouts respectable.

Sponsorships: We have already received Sponsorship from the following places and anticipate many more.

Casey's General Store- $50 gift Card and $300 Cash Pending
Peoria Chiefs- 2 sets of 4 box seats to a 2011 game
Enjoy the City Fundraiser- $100 Cash and $100 in Merchandise
Sun Valley Housing- $50 cash
Men That Care group- 37 DX disc and a few minis

The responsse I have been getting from other clubs I have posted this information on has been great and more Sponsors have been coming in.  I have approxiamtely 10 more tee sposorships available if anyone is interested. A donation of $40 or more in cash or merchandise will get you a sign posted at a tee and your name and logo on the tourney flyer. I am also looking for donations for players packs- will need at least 100 of whatever item is donated. Thanks to everyone for your interest, donations, and consideration.

Here are a few new Sponsors for the event.

OSF $100

Childrens Hospital $100

Randy Moore from Fox Valley Metro Disc Golf Club- $25, 2 star destroyers (one with an awesome Channahon Clasic Stamp) a Black Hawks shirt and a hat. (I dont think I've met Randy but I can tell you he is awesome!!!)

We had our monthly meeting ealier this evening and the Men That Care group just approved the funds to put together a very nice players pack. All pre-registered players will receive a palyers pack at no cost to them. The costs will not come from your entry fees! After this donation and after adding up all other sponsors, I have a rough estimate of over $3000 dollars worth of donations in cash and merchandise. There will be tons of CTP's for all divisions, items raffled(including a basket), 50/50 CTP, Ace fund, and more. Hope to see you all out there. Please see the PFC website for more details if needed. I am taking suggestions for the players pack. I am thinking about getting CFR's for them and want your feedback as to what you want. Let me know and I enertain all suggestions and find a diplomatic way to decide. I personally would like to see some Champion Gators or perhaps a T-L in CFR plastic. I am hoping to have paypal registration open by the end of next week on the PFC site.

Sponsorship update. Yesterday we got a call from Rhonda Snyder from Variety Gifts and Services out of Augusta Georgia. They have decided to discontinue their sporting goods section and would like to donate all of their remaining disc golf supplies. There is a wide variety of items equalling up to $1258.10. It should be shipped to us tomorrow. The overwhelming support of the community and the hard work of our MTC members have insured that there will tons of prizes for this tournament. We are getting very close to $5000 worth of donations. I am estimating that there will be 3-4 CTP prizes per division per round. I will also be adding merchandise to the payouts. There are also a few items to be raffled off.

Over 600 added to the open division

Paypal is open on the PFC website:

http://www.peoriafrisbeeclub.com/tourna ... istration/

Lunch will be availbale on site between rounds for $5.00. This will get you a 6 in sub from subay, a bag of chips, and a drink (probably tea or lemonade). We will proabably have gatorade and bottle water for sale also.

Hope to see you all there!

Thanks to everyone who came out in support of the MTC Tournament! We had a great turn out (98) players registered and raised over $2300 for a great cause. I appreciate any constructive criticsm anyone has as this was my first time as a tournament director. All and all though I think things ran rather smooth.

I will post pictures to my facebook account soon so if you want to see them hit me (Johnnie Harrison) up on there.

Hope to see you out next year as we plan on doing this annually. Im thinking about expanding the field and playing on two courses next year. (Mc Naughton/Morton)

Doug an Dana thanks for coming out and glad you had a good tournament experience.

All added cash came from Co Op Records in Pekin, Peoria Childrens Home, St. Francis Hospital, Matt Triplett with Enjoy the City Fundraiser, Midstate College, and Affordable Builders. If you get a chance to thank them for their generousity along with all of our other sponsors. Forgot to mention one Saturday. Big thanks to Nate from The Sign Shop in Pekin who made the banner at no cost.
