Two very storied Franchises. Jerry Jones will hate seeing either one hoist the Lombardi Trophy.

Of course I am pumped up, as the Steelers will play in their record 8th Superbowl, but will be tryin to widen the gap between Dallas and S.F. with their 7th Title, going up against the Pack, from Title town.

Too many beers to break it down now, but Ben will need to be alot better to beat Greaan Bay.

See ya in Dallas Tom!   ;D

I'm going to look at this game a little differently than the outcome of last years game. For those of you who missed it...

Pitt 37
Pack 36

Rodgers was 26/48 for 383 yds, and 3 TD's
Ben was 29/46 with 503 yds, and 3 TD's
Yes that's right, 886 yards passing between them. Jennings, Ward, and H. Miller all had over 100 yds receiving. Both teams scored on the final 7 posessions. The lead changed hands 4 times in the last 8 minutes of the game. Neither team ran the ball very well with Packers getting 60 yds and 2 TD's. With the Steelers going for 65 yds, and 1 TD.  Ben hit Wallace for the game winner with no time remaining.

Needless to say, that will not be the outcome of this game. Although it would be great to watch. A good old fashioned shoot out. But last years teams, are nowhere near the teams we have playing in this game.
Green Bay is the #5 overall defense, and probably the defensive player of the year in Matthews. Woodson was last years DPOY, and A J Hawk is fast enough to get to Ben when he scrambles.
If Aaron Rodgers comes out like he did vs Chicago and marches right down the field, that may set the tone in the Packs favor. But if the Bears can slow him down like they did in the 2nd half yesterday, then I am confident that Pitt will as well. If he is on his back, or at least getting pressured, that may cause him to throw a pick, which may turn the field position to Pitts favor.

Steelers are the #1 defense, and only allow 62 yds rushing per game, and a low of 16.4 points a game.  The Packers new RB Starks, will not run vs this Defense, so Rodgers is going to have to do what the Patriots did when they smacked Pitt around @ Pitt, and throw the quick outs to Driver and Jennings. Which clearly hasn't worked for the Ravens or Jets in the playoffs.

Of course my heart is with Pittsburgh to add to their already NFL Record 6 Titles, but a loss to a great franchise like the Green Bay Packers is nothing to hang your head about. Packers are favored by 2.5 as of today, but I see that changing before kickoff. Can't see a #6 seed being favored over a #2 seed??

Jerry Jones will hate to see either one of these 2 teams hoisting the Lombardi Trophy in his house, which will make it even better, when Pittsburgh hoists their 7th Lombardi Trophy, by beating Lombardi's Packers!

Say what you want about Big Ben, but he is an ELITE QB in this league, and has proven time and time again, the dude wins big games. He's in his 7th season, playing for his 3rd Superbowl Title. If that isn't Elite, then neither is Brady.

All that aside, I like the Steelers to win a very hard fought battle, that once again comes down to the last posession.

Matthews is overated.  Pitt D needs to not let themselves get trodden upon by rodgers.

I see this one coming down to whoever makes the big play, whether that is on defense or on offense, I don't know. Both teams have a good run defense and have great linebackers. I give the edge to the Pack's DB's, which means that Heath Miller will have to have a big game in order to keep the ball moving for Pit (which has been a wek spot for Green Bay this season.)
As for GB not having a running game, I really don't think it matters much. Until the playoff push, they really were not running the ball very well anyways. They can still win without it. I think their running game is more to keep the oppositions defense from playing the pass every down.
I am very glad to see two great QB's tht can avoid the rush and continue plays with their feet. It is going to make for a great game to watch. I hope this one lives up to my expectations. Packers speed on the outside is a bit too much for the Steelers to handle when they spread them out. Packers win in a classic.

I thought this was pretty nice:

"As long ago as it was that the Packers and Steelers tormented the Cowboys, the bitterness of those big-game losses lingers. The Dallas Morning News referenced it in a front-page headline Monday atop the story about these teams advancing to this game: "Nemesis Bowl," it read."

Anytime the Packers can give it to Dallas it is a good thing.  Dallas owned the Packers in the 90's.

The Pittsburgh Steelers have listed Maurkice Pouncey as questionable for next weekend's Super Bowl. But the truth, a source with knowledge of the situation said Sunday, is that it's "highly doubtful" the Pro Bowl rookie center will dress for the game.

In addition to a high sprain, Pouncey has a fracture in his left ankle. He spent the week on crutches with his left leg in a hard plaster cast, although that is procedural to a certain degree to immobilize the ankle.

This is not very promising for Pittsburgh. Pouncey is a Rookie that made the Pro Bowl. Although a rookie he was a leader to the o-line. Legursky is nowhere near the protector of the middle like Pouncey. This will make Ben have to find a open receiver quick, or scramble to pick up yards, which puts him in injury situations. If he goes down, Leftwhich will not be able to lead this team.

I'll bet the spread goes up in Packers favor before Friday

I Think I have done pretty good so far about being quiet. If the Steelers were playing the Bears, this topic would have about 5-6 pages, not just 1.  I respect the Packers and always have. They have a great WR in Jennings, 1 not afraid to go across the middle(Driver), and a great Cornerback in Woodson. But enough is enough....

I am soooooo tired of hearing that Rodgers is one of the best QB's in the league.  He is good, yes, but what has he really done besides this year?  I mean hell, he lost to Chad Henne and the Dolphins. Along with Drew Stanton and the Lions, yes Drew mother f'n Stanton  ;D  He has not seen a defense like he will see tomorrow.  And yes, last year he threw for 3td's and 383 yds against Pitt, but if I recall, Pitt didn't make the playoffs last year, and didn't have the #1 defense in football, more like 8th. Besides Green Bay's rookies, it's the same defense!!! and Ben lit them up for 503 yds, matching Rodgers 3 td's, with the game winner.   Ben's losses came to Brees, and the Saints. Brady and the Patriots, and Sanchez and the Jets. all 3 playoff teams. In this BIG of a game, on that BIG of a stage, Pittsburgh has 25 guys returning from 2009's superbowl team, Packers have 2 guys with superbowl experience.  This will be the ultimate deciding factor in the game. Ben knows how to win the BIG games, like him or hate him!!!  Green Bay will not handle the pressure, and Pitts defense will rattle Rodgers. Everyone knows, the Pack will not be able to run at all, so Lebeau will bring the house. I just hope Pitt doesn't do what they did against the Jets, and shut it down in the 2nd half.
I think Mike Wallce has a game like last years, well over 100 yds, and 2 TD's. He is too fast for any of the corners. And he wins MVP, if Ben doesn't.

And please, I mean pretty please. don't come on here and blame the refs this time. Rodgers probably doesn't finish the game, but the hit will be Legal!

About 4 inexcusable drops by the GB wide receivers that kept that game half-way interesting.  The Packers should throw a roof over Lambeau and put down some turf, because in those conditions Rodgers is 3x as dangerous.  Brady was the unanimous MVP for 2010.  I'd bet on Rodgers to collect his first MVP in 2011.  He's already got as many titles as the guy before him (terrible decision letting that other guy go by the way  ::) )  Pretty sure the Pack will be the favorites to repeat.  A massive amount of injuries disguised the Packers as a 10-6 underdog entering the playoffs.  This became obvious to me the day before the game and I parlayed the Packers -3 and the Over (45), which paid well.  I would have liked to see a Packers/Patriots Super Bowl.  Those were the 2 best teams this season.

I'm glad football is over.  Can't wait for the spring.
