Quotewith the condition of 14's basket i think it would be wise to put in another basket there and maybe even change the hole up a little to make it more fun since there is some extra room there.
isn't there a residential area just beyond that basket? That could be a concern if you lengthened the hole and the basket wound up close to the street - you could put the basket down to the right more, but then it's just one more wide open hole (which I probably can't get to anyway  <_<   ). But there may be other possibilities...

The problem with doing anything clever in that end of the course is that the school district and the park district, last we looked into it, do not agree on where the property line is.  When Tom C. expanded the course to 18 his redesign had to be redesigned because the school district claimed part of it was on their property.  I think the school district says that the playground fence is not a property line; it's just where they put the fence.  When you look at maps, the mapmakers seem to think that most of the property down the hill over by 14 belongs to the park.  But it is impossible to tell where the line is.

..well, it was more like 4ish....

14 is back in and looks solid. I saw Bruce's post on the PDGA board that the tees will be set up just off the woebegone woodchip piles that pass for tees there, so assuming it doesn't rain much this week (a fairly safe bet  ;)  ) I truly applaud that idea.

I'm definitely against vandalism but I for one wouldn't complain if somebody knocked over that stupidly placed 'tee sign' on 17....  <_<

Those baskets stay in year 'round.  Once the weather turns cold, the iced-over flooding can make for some wicked "D"! ;D

anybody been out there this week? How wet will it still be on Monday?

Course changes:

The pin locations for holes 3 and 18 have been swapped.  I think this is to the detriment of both holes.  If this was done to keep players out of private yards along the old 18 fairway, then it's understandable.  Otherwise, it's a mistake IMO.

The pin location for hole 6 has been moved up (before the path, now) and a little right.  From the original tee this hole is a joke.  From the alternate tee it's a little better, but still an easy deuce.  If anything, I would have liked this basket back a little from where it was, bringing the cattails a little more into play and shrinking the landing zone for big arms.

The pin location for hole 13 was moved out of the woods to between the woods and the street (closer to the woods).  This is an excellent move.  A good golf hole from both the original and alternate tees, but a little tougher from the original.  It makes the course flow better too by avoiding conflicts with the #12 fairway.

The distance markings on most of the alternate tee signs are ludicrously erroneous.

The course definitely plays easier now.

hole 3's tee is also going to be moved about 50 feet to the left (marked with sticks usually), closer to the creek.  It makes it a little bit tougher, but from a lefty standpoint 3 and 18 suddenly are a lot easier.

I'm glad that they are trying to make course improvements.  I hope it all works out when the tees get moved!

The original tee is no longer used.  There's a new tee north of #5's pin, next to the fence.  The hole is easier than it used to be due to the decrease in distance, but it's not too easy.

These changes have been made about a month or two ago, and I must say I like the new holes. It's nice to change up the course from time to time and give you more variety.

Hole 3 became easier if you're a lefty, but if you're a right handed thrower it became more of a challenge because of the oak trees to the right. You either have to throw a disc straight and low or a nice big anny.

Hole 6 definitely became easier, but if you play anything beyond the path as OB it makes it a little more challenging for both tees.

I'm really liking the new 13 as well. The old pin location was a joke and I'm really glad they moved it.

As for hole 18, I think it is a great change playing the old 3 basket. You no longer have to worry about throwing in someone's back yard as you said, but you also don't have to worry about people walking down the path as much anymore either. I don't like blind corners that involve pathways. The new pin location puts the creek into play as well as some trees that get in your way. Much better!

Hole 3 and 18 really conflicted with each other. Nice change.

I got out to Streamwood on Saturday for the first time since the tournament in 2006.

The change to #3 and #18 was ok.  There is some minor conflict with tee #4 when throwing from 18 tee to the new 18 basket.. I might have placed the tee to #18 along the creek farther back from current tee #4 making it a straight or anhyzer shot for a righty. The tee to #4 could have been the same distance but moved  farther to the right somewhat close to #18's tee.

I absolutely cannot stand the change to #6 & #7.. The tree on #6 is not a factor. #7 is longer but the long grass and cattails are more out of play  with the angle from the tee. The tall grass and cattails could have been utilized much better to 2 holes that have no trees.

The change to #13 was a very good change.

The key to make #6 better is that you play to the left of the path OB.  When I ran the turkey bowl we made the area left of the path OB, and 2 out of the 3 guys in my group (including myself) went OB.  I believe the path on the left side of 7 is also considered OB, so it makes it a little more challenging.  I think the idea behind 7 was that it was a fairly easy deuce hole.  When the wind is kickin hole 7 is TOUGH.

When I was walking the course with Phil - a local that plays at the leagues regularly, he was talking about how they were hoping to have concrete tees there in late 2007.  But, there was a delay that came up with what contractor they were going to use, and then the bad weather hit.  I would look for this course as well as Sunny Hill to have concrete tees in Spring '08.

I'll be following this news as closely as I can as well because I have every intention to host a tournament out here in '08.

What is the best way to get to this course if I was coming from Lombard (North Ave. & 53 right by 355)? I attempted to go there once based off directions from someone I met at the 9 hole in Elk Grove.  He was way off but, we did end up finding the 9 hole in Streamwood!  Thanks!! ;D

From there I would take 355 North to the Elgin-O'Hare. Take this West to Irving Park Rd. Follow Irving Park until you get to Bartlett Road. Go North 1/2 mile to park on right.

If you found the 9-holer you were pretty close, you were on Irving Park, but you just didn't head north on Bartlett Rd and go north a few blocks.  It's easy to miss the course.  I look for street signs of Oltendorf, then Pine, and you turn right into the parking area right after Pine (there's more parking behind the big building).
