Who:  PDGA Members, people that want to qualify for the United States Disc Golf Championships or the United States Amateur Disc Golf Championships or earn points for the Wisconsin Tour or for the PDGA

What:  2011 Greater Milwaukee Open - PDGA Supertour Event

Where:  Dretzka Original, Dretzka New, Brown Deer (Milwaukee County, WI)

When:  May 21 & 22

How many:  We usually bring in over 200 for this event but it might be closer to 300 this year.

Why:  'Why not?' is really the question.

How: Register by printing out the attached form or by going to www.iRegisteredOnline.com

Late fees start on 5/18/2011 so you have plenty of time to either mail it in or to get online before the fees increase.

Ive never played an a tier event. I am ranked (as of now, depends on new ratings) in rec. Would someone be able to let me know how an event like this goes. I know it is more involved than say a c tier and woudl like to know what I might possibly be getting myself into.

The main difference is you are playing 3 rounds over the course of 2 days.  Otherwise, just show up and compete the same as if it was a C tier.  A-tiers are required to give more value in the player's pack than a C tier and the entry fee is often a bit higher.

I'm assuming cargo khakis are ok. What about the dri fit polyester shirts from players packs I've acquired?

Quick updates:

I'm working on the exact pool schedules and assignments.  Earlier this week we had a MAJOR scare with regards to scheduling and although we still suffered the slightest hiccup - we are still going to be fine. 

As for the pre-registration - they are flowing in regularly via online, in person, and the mail.  I'm guessing there will be an enormous surge that takes place Wednesday seeing how the the $10 late fees will be imposed starting Wednesday night. 

Here is the latest:  116 as of 4:45 CST on Saturday, May 14.  I'd be shocked if we don't top 200 for this event.

Also - looking for anyone that might want to do LIVE scoring for the leader cards on Sunday morning.  One way to do that is to play open and shoot well enough to get on that card - that would save me the hassle of finding a volunteer

I likely won't up them until I get home from leagues on Wednesday night or just before I go to bed (which is usually very late).  I'm guessing if you do it before midnight - you should be fine.

Here is another update I made earlier today with regard to the pools and schedule:

A Pool - Dretzka New - Brown Deer - Dretzka Original (with tee times on Sun)
B Pool - Brown Deer - Dretzka Original - Dretzka New
C Pool - Dretzka Original - Dretzka New - Brown Deer

I have about 10 to 12 that haven't been added to the list - after I do my video blog editing, I'll update the list.

I should be in Rec, not Intermediate. I'm pretty sure I clicked on the right option when registering, but on the receipt it just says 'C Pool', and doesn't specify either Int or Rec.
(maybe the Item# does, but anyhow, please move me over to Rec.)

This was a well-run event.  Got pretty lucky with the weather.  Rain for only a handful of holes Saturday and 80 degrees and sunny on Sunday.  Every round started exactly on time.  The payout process on Sunday was very speedy.  Two thumbs up for the trophies.  Very unique.

Congrats to Steven on his win.  Congrats to McManus on laying waste to the ADV GM field by 20 strokes, while demoralizing anybody in his path.  His goal was to make the other GM's all quit, which he nearly achieved.  Tom, you are truly a man among (elderly) men!  (note:  this is just sarcasm...Tom didn't really want all the GM's to quit, as he needed to suck every last bit of lifeforce from their bodies)

I will ignore Dan's remarks and note that Dan won the Intermediate Division and also qualified for the USDGC. Congrats to Steven for the win. And also to Dave N, Kenny G and Brad S for finishing in the cash and for representing Illinois.

Maybe I'm just jealous that you won a division with a much better sounding name.  When you tell your wife you won "Advanced Grand Master" by 20 strokes, she must think you are really something special.  When I tell my wife I won Intermediate, it sounds like I competed at the Special Olympics (no offense to any special olympians).  When you see Intermediate on a trophy its a reminder, like "Hey you won 1st place, but you're still really not very good".  Recreational sounds even worse, like you're not even really competing.  What is wrong with just Am 1, Am 2, Am 3?

And good shooting Tom.  You've been on fire this year.  You're rating is going to continue to climb.
