Super bummed this is on the same weekend as the Illinois State Championship.  Any possibility of what divisions playing what day being flip flopped from the state championship?

blackandwhite

Im in the same boat. Illinois state has me playing the 24th, and that would be the same day as my division for this one. If they get switched (which I know a couple people from Joliet would travel for) count me there.

Terry always runs a super smooth tournament, and is always a great time

discglfr

Probably not.

I know a ton of people love the long course but we also realize that won't necessarily do much for score separation.  Seeing how some lucky player (whom must be a WI resident) will be qualifying for the USDGC for this event, we will have to play the same layout(s) both days.

However, my thought right now is to have everyone play the 'shorter' of the two layouts first on Saturday.  Then the long pins on Saturday afternoon.  Leave the pins in those longs for first round Sunday, then move them to where they were for Saturday morning.

That's just my gut instinct as of right now.

all longs both rounds right?

discglfr

I appreciate the compliments on my events as well as any support we can get.

HOWEVER with that being said, I bent over 200% backwards last year to accommodate a potential 'schedule conflict' with an Illinois event and it netted me nothing but additional complaining and headaches.  I learned many years ago that you simply can't please everyone so it is what it is.

I'm not saying anyone here is complaining - I'm just saying that WI has a serious tour with plenty of serious tour players and I'm sorry if anyone feels that they have to choose one event over the other.  I guess our disc golf communities could be suffering from worse problems though :)

I think that this very will could sell out at the max of 90 per day so if you want to secure your spot in the event please pre-register via mail in entry form or online via, www.iRegisteredOnline.com.

I will say this ... to anyone that uses IRO for this event - you will be eligible for some VERY unique, IRO ONLY prizes.

Hmmm.  Two great courses. One is about 50 miles north of me. the other 50 miles south.  Both with great disc golf coummunities.  I am free for the weekend.  I will play one of the events on Sunday, the day designated for the...ahem...lesser players. If I am feeling up to it I might play Joliet adv. Grandmasters on Saturday adding to the donor pool and then play Rec or Nov or whatever is the lowest form of humanity that Terry offers on Sunday. We will see.  If I only play one event its no slight to whichever event I don't play. This is a lot better choice than between going to Wrigley or Comiskey.  its a winner here regardless.

dang! i love all longs! hopefully i can get the money together to play both days instead of just one. i want my black avair

i do find it strange that all longs dont create enough seperation...wait nevermind. its the handicap USDGC your talking about. i remember from GMO why it is the way it is. so everybody 850+ has a shot at qualifying right?

@ those who would like to play both tournaments but their division isnt offered opposite days then i have a suggestion. if youre not pro then step up a division and play both days.

I feel your pain as far as baseball goes David. Would be awsome to have you on the same card Saturday (Adv.Grand.) at Highland. I want to play Terrys event but I have to defend Saturday. Have to hurry and decide about Sunday still. May take the drive North depending on amount of Intermediate players.

I have to pass on both since I'm making the trip to Worlds (and that's only because I have a place to stay out there.) This also means I'll almost certainly miss Sinnissippi unless I drink from the Fountain of Youth (Niagara Falls, maybe) and get driven out there on that Sunday. I regret that even more.

Terry, here's a vote for doing Fox River/Fox Lake (or whatever it is) again for Cold Turkey this year!

thanks,

Could I possibly play any worse if I didn't practice putting??

Seems silly to not run opposite divisions with IL States. That's just me thinking out loud though..

Fun course on what will be a solid event, love me some TDogg events.
Vibram Disc Golf, Ledgestone Insurance, Paragon and Whirld Sports are all cool. Real cool.

so then why not ask the jtown guys to switch it up? after last years BS i wouldnt do a damn thing to cater to IL events if i were terry.

discglfr

Dana,

I agree with the idea of running opposite Illinois States and if I felt that dozens and dozens of people would actually take advantage of it, I'd almost consider it.  However, after I did a bunch of effing around last year to try to that very concept and found that virtually ZERO people came up for my event at Grey Fox, I figured I was done trying to cater that way.

Again, in one way I'm sorry if people have to choose one vs the other but in the same breath, we both have solid events and courses and more than enough players to sell out each event.

People know what to expect at my events and I'm sure they know what to expect elsewhere.  Options are good things.

@Teegan - I'm not a fan of the 'half in' or 'trophy only' options.  Seems like those are mildly confusing and a bunch of additional work which ultimately lead to misunderstandings amongst too many players.  I think the lack of events doing them and the lack of people that even take advantage of those options at the events they are offered says enough for me.  Heck, I'm not even a fan of the MA4 concept but I'm offering it simply because of a possible IL contingency.

LASTLY - I am open to ideas for some kick backs or incentives or bonuses or something to anyone that does wish to play both days of the Skyline Classic.  PM me with any legitimate suggestions you might have.

THIS is also a great idea - anyone that wants to ask them to do that, that would be just fine with me.

Thanks,

Terry

With players registering and making plans with work, travel, home it seems way to late to start switching days. It sounds like Terry went through a lot of crap last year and I wouldn't want to go through it this year.

It sucks because a lot of great Wisconsin players travel down here and I'm sure we're going to miss them.

Terry I remember playing against you when Willow was your caddie. Disc golf seemed so much simpler back then.

I wish you and your tournament well.

Smith, correct me if I'm wrong, but il states has been on the calender for quite some time while terry just recently got all the info up for skyline (or am I wrong?). I was just thinking out loud as a td when I said that it would be silly to not run opposite divisions. I would want maximum participation at my event, therefore running opposite of the nearby tournament.

Hopefully all the 1000 rated wisco guys stay home.

A TD can only completely plan for those things that are within his control. Terry did a lot of planning last year based on a tournament that he had no control over. Then the TD of the other tournament had his park plan yanked out from underneath him causing him to change his tournament schedule which left Terry wondering why he had even tried to accommodate the changes that he made.

It's nice to be flexible. Its even nicer to have your tournament run well. TDs have to make choices to run their tournaments well over being flexible all the time. Pre-reg only, late registration fees are just two examples that make things less flexible for the player but ultimately lead to a better run tournament.

Anyway, back to thread and register early for the Skyline Classic because that will help the tournament run better!

well that depends which calendar your looking at. its been on the WI Tour Schedule since late winter. and we all know that IL St Champs are at the end of July. i wasnt being 100% serious with my comment. only point out that if your going to ask something of one person you should make sure to ask the same of the other if you want to be fair, but we're FIBs so thats out of the window ;).

and honestly i would expect both to fill.
