05-18-03 Monthly Club Meeting

Jim,

     I know you stepped up & ran the singles league last week. Maybe we should just make it a casual league or cancel it. Show up & play. Keep score & play for $ you want.

     I think I agree with you that Junior Leagues are important. Last year Bill & I alternated weeks & some weeks we were both able to make it. Some weeks we would have 2 juniors, some 10. We need 3 or 4 people to volunteer. Maybe we could get a rotation going. I'll do 2 or 3 weeks but cannot make them all.

     Don't worry about Round Lake. If I can get a bobcat, the work will get done. Can't get as much little stuff done but i'll get it done sooner or later. I'm not going to stress out over it.

Jon, Jay, Jim, & I are in for having a few best shot dates held @ Parkside & Fairfield. Anyone else interested? Summer League is 15 weeks long.

Legues will be Sunday morning with a new start time of 10:15AM(if no one objects). That way we will get started @ 10:30AM instead of 10:45AM. I think it would be nice to get 2 Parkside & Fairfield dates this summer. Sounds like it's a go then!

Mirth is correct. I'd like to see people report between 10:15 & 10:20 so we can get started @ 10:30AM. We then may get more people to stick around for club meetings when we have them. We are starting around 10:45 & sometimes 10:50.

Just change the date. Jon, no one will even be around..  What is the problem?  Brett said that the date will be changed, why do we need to 2nd quess him?

Whatever Jon....the safari should have been changed not because of 1 tournament, but 2 events going on in the area.   Can't wait to see who goes to safari this weekend.  Very dissapointed...  But do what you have to do to win.... Best course in WI and noone but a few can make it...smooth.

Just replying about Jon's comment of changing it for 1 event.  I'm pissed that it was never changed and I guess that is my problem..  It all started at madison meadows at the last safari when Jim told all the locals that with the conflict with the baskets maybe not being in that we were going to change it to streamwood, so it should have been streamwood.  OK it was just told to 8+ guys...  and then 3 or 4 of you decided to keep the date.  Or did I miss that part of the meeting when I was 5 minutes late?  Just going off of what was said on this board.  Mirth stating your 2 rules too me...were did I cross the line?  It was a reply...maybe if I was smart enough I could of replied on the right topic, but who cares....besides you.  Ban me...I'm a bad person.

I can help out on some of the Tuesdays, leagues at Parkside are starting on the other Tuesdays...I mean Thursdays after Praire Open.

Sorry everyone I wasn't at the meeting I had my son this weekend, and I am lucky I got away to play at all. Anyways here are my comments on the meeting info where applicable.



Bag Tags] 1 left. Have an interested buyer just need to get back in contac t with him. But it is first come first serve so if anyone wants on or knows someone who does send em our way!



Safari] I should be at the next one! :-) Thanks guys for filling in for me while I was unavailable.



DISContinuum Disc Golf Classes] I would love to help out and run these, but if they are in the evenings during the week, well we all know I work till 10 so who knows. perhaps I can do one or two, but at this point I can't promise. JIm do you know what the exact dates for the classes are? Also on a side note I contacted Innova, Discraft, Gateway, Millenium, and DGA about seeing if they would like to donate any discs for the classes.



Junior Leagues ] When do these start? I can prolly do a few here or there. Weekends are the best times for me, and Im sure I could convince Eleanor or a grandparent to take watch my con or even take him to the playground while I did it.



Illinois Open] I will be there! What stamp are on the discs? Just wondering if its the one one I did?



Widdershins] I will be there.



Summer League] Im okay with the earlier start time. I'm also ok with 2 weeks at parskide and 2 weeks at Fairfield.

As we get into tournament season there will be lots of weekends that people won't be here for. I really think that we should continue to have meetings per the schedule.

When I posted that, I did not know that Brett would not be there. I actually didn't know who and who wouldn't be there, I just thought it was a bad precedent to change the meeting a week before because of a tournament. I wasn't second guessing anyone, I was just stating my opinion.



If our Club President thinks that this situation merits a change in the meeting time, I support that decision. I didn't realize that this date would be any different from any other weekend in the summer when there are tournaments.

Back on topic...



I will go over the rest of the year with a calendar and see if there are any obvious conflicts with the regular meeting time for the rest of the year. I welcome anyone else to help me. We can share our concerns of conflicts on the 18th and make changes to the meeting schedule as needed.

I'm sure I'll be able to make some of the Jr. leagues, but I won't be able to make all of them.



I like the idea of playing Parkside and Fairfield a couple of times for league. Let's make sure that we are playing Bevier on days when we have meetings afterward, unless we are going to do a meeting somewhere else close to one of the other parks.



I went with a simple circular stamp with a border. For trophy discs, Dr. Dye is going to dye the shape of Illinois inside the circle and then do some dye on the outside of the circle. The stamp by itself is simple, but still looks nice.

Summer League] I think that's a great idea. It would be nice to mix it up a little. I'm okay with the earlier start time, too.

Junior Leagues ] This is Saturdays at 10AM starting June 14, correct? I should be able to help out with this, too. I don't know about running it, but I would be happy to help out with whatever.



Widdershins] I'm very on the fence with this one. $30 for Prarie Open at Parkside on the 1st, then $30 for Widdershins that same week is way out of my budget.  I won't know until the week of, probably, if I can play it.



Bevier Clean Up] This I can help with, too, but erratically. This Saturday I should be free.
