Exciting updates for this year's MCO...

Online registration is now open at http://www.madcityopen.org

Due to the delay in getting it up and running, there will be NO late registration fee this year.  However, there will still be NO on site registration.  The registration deadline is Friday, August 19th at 7:00.

Registration has picked up.  About 20 players were added in the last 24 hours.  As of now...

Pool A is about 33% full
Pool B is about 50% full
Pool C is about 25% full

There will be NO ace pool  Why is that exciting?  Because anyone who hits a tournament ace will receive a pair of Keen's brand new DeLaveaga disc golf shoes!!!  These retail for $120.  Glide just received our first order of them last Friday.  They are sweet!!!

Finally, I'm very excited to announce that there will be a FREE CLINIC/DEMO featuring Innova's Jay "Yeti" Reading (3x World Putting Champion), Des Reading (3x Women's World Champion) & Discraft's Jon Drummond (Madison native & former WI distance record holder).  It will be held on Friday, August 19th from 5:00-7:00 at Hiestand Park.

Thanks,

Mike

just reg'd. I cant wait for this. do we know what the players pack will be and will they be available at any point on friday?

Mike_Batka

Amateurs will receive their choice of one custom stamped Innova disc and one custom stamped Discraft disc.  Two different stamps.  All Champion, Star, Elite Z and ESP.  Pros get their choice of one disc.

Competitors will be able to pick up their players packages at Glide on Friday or at their first round course on Saturday.

smyith

any hint as to what molds will be available?

Frolfer88

I just registered and am looking forward to a fun weekend! I was just wondering why a 955 rated player is in intermediate. I just played in Rockford last weekend and a 945 rated player won intermediate so if someone could clarify that would be great!

Mike_Batka

Various models from both manufacturers.  More from Innova than Discraft.

I'm aware of the 955 rated player registered for Intermediate and am waiting for the PDGA to return a call placed earlier today.  The situation is not black and white.  The player understands he may need to move up.  It will be sorted out soon enough.

Update...

3x World Putting Champion Jay Reading won't be coming...but 4x World Putting Champion Jay Reading will!!!

Pool A...about 50% full

Pool B...as of now, just 8 spots left

Pool C...about 50% full

As of noon on Saturday, 8/13...

The entire field of 216 players is over 2/3 full.

Pool A...over half full

Pool B...just 1 spot left

Pool C...over half full

Register online at http://www.madcityopen.org

There is NO late fee this year because of the delay in getting online registration up and running.

Finally, it bums me out to report that Jay & Des Reading won't be coming.  Des had to withdraw from the World Championships in CA this week due to injury.

However, Discraft's Jon Drummond will still be at Hiestand Park from 5:00-7:00 on Friday, August 19th for a free clinic/demo.

Thanks,

Mike

I sent you an email via the pdga site. I reg's for my buddy who is playing advanced. His pdga # and all info is correct, but it shows my name as the player name. I will be playing rec and everything looks good on that end, but if you could change my name (Rob Wright, to Jason Riley) for the advanced division to reflect jasons name it would be much appreciated

Pool A...someone withdrew (sprained ankle) so there's one spot open.  First come, first served.  608-285-5190.

Pool B is full.

Pool C is full.

jynx

how much does 1st place pay in open adv. and int.?

Ledgestone

I would not have been happy to win Advanced at this tournament.....I understand its an A-tier and that costs more, but with 50 players and that high of an entry fee.....$145 to the winner?
