I played ADV and earned 2nd. I'm perfectly fine with the payout. When considered the anemities...
Got two premium discs, cpl stickers, coupons for free/discounted beer/food, free food at the players party, and all the beer I could handle from a local microbrewery. On top of that, 3 seperate course marshals, closed courses, spotters, water coolers, mowed fairways, closed courses, 10m circles on every hole, $5 camping, side games, and for those who could hear - the DJ at the player's party. Lest we forget super fast posting of the results and payouts for you to notice!

Definitely worth my pennies! I dont know about you but I would rather be wined and dined than focus on a fat payout at the end.

I thought the payouts were small, but wasnt bothered by them. basically all year, I thought the payouts have been thin. But it was really nice to have the spotters, and as MANY water coolers as there was. The pizza was awesome, Im glad they decided to order alot, but they could have had more than 3 kegs...5-7 thirsty guys CAN knock a keg out, figure the amount of people there and they have had 2 of each kind

REGARDLESS, I had a great time and would gladly go back next year

Well said.  It was also nice to see guys playing Guts and MTA at the players party.

Thanks for the kind words.  As someone who was born and spent the first eight years of my life just outside of Chicago (and am still a Cubs, Bears & Bulls fan), I enjoy seeing disc golfers making the trip up from Illinois.

Ledgestone,

You're just looking at the payout as it relates to gross entry fee.  That only tells part of the story.  Ziggy helped paint a clearer picture (thanks ziggy).  A few more things to keep in mind...

players' packages were valued at $30 in the pdga td report...it could be argued that the value was closer to $40

I based the payout off of gross entry fees, not net entry fees which I can do.  That's $7 per player ($4 pdga & $3 WI Tour) I could've taken out, but didn't.  That's $1,512 + $75 WI Tour sanctioning fee & $100 pdga sanctioning fee for a total of $1,687.

A lot of events are 1 or 2 days at 1 course.  The MCO was 2 days at 3 courses.  I had to pay six course rental fees and 4 shelter rental fees (there is no shelter to rent at Hiestand)...about $1,000.

Players party (free pizza...50 of them...and beer/soda) was not factored into payout.

Very nice glass trophies not factored into payout.

I'm not mad, but do take a little exception when someone criticizes any event without having all the facts.  If anything, the payout significantly exceeded the pdga's standards for an A Tier...both pro and amateur.

blackandwhite...

If anything we needed less beer.  Two of the three barrels still had a little beer left in them when the players' party ended at 9:30 on Saturday.

Thanks,

Mike

mike,

had a great time and everything ran so smooth. players party was a blast, enjoyed it more than worlds in milwaukee. MCO is never a let down, even when you get stuck in par hell from the SHORTS...lol. i cant thank you enough for renting the group campsite. i dont think alot of people were aware of the campsite before the tourn. several people mentioned if its available next year they would be taking advantage. so i hope it is available again
the only thing i would like to see for next year is more OB lines like in years past. i know...i know...im crazy. but i just think that a event of this magnitude should force better control and really make players think as they navigate the course. Vallarta-Ast is a lil to easy with the lack of OB. but thats me and im sure im in the extreme minority.

thanks for a great event

Mike, I apologize. It was just an observation on my end that the payout seemed small or it seemed like money was moved up to pro, which would of course be fine. I had no idea you guys had to pay course rental fees.....don't tell that to anyone down here! We are fortunate to get to use all of our courses for free whenever we want.

Sounds like a fun event and a good players pack. I hosted my first tourney the same weekend and the top advanced got $380 of merch/cash and we had 20 advanced players for a $35 entry fee so I was just trying to do some quick math in my head. Maybe my advanced players got too much! You definitely explained yourself and showed where the money went, so I appreciate that.
