Just wanted to get your response to this. Would you guys be willing to purchase Discontinuum T-Shirts. If things worked out we could pre-order/prepay & put the same logo that is being used on the discs & put them on the T-Shirts. I've worked with Grand Sporting Goods ordering $2,000 worth of basketball uniforms. I plan to do the same next year as I have developed somewhat of a relationship. I think they would give us a good deal. My basketball t-shirts were $7.00 each. Would you be willing to pay $10.00 or less.  Just curious.

T-Shirts are a cheap & good way to promote disc golf and our club.  I just clinched a deal with Sun King Discs, out of Florida.  The owner is from Lake Villa, Illinois, and very eager to develop the relationship we just established.  Brett initiated contact - THANKS!

Let me talk to him to see if we can swing a deal through him.

Grand Sporting Goods is fine, but we should use our sponsors - that's what they're there for.  By putting the DISContinuum logo on one side and Sun King's on the other, we coud probably get shirts cheaper than going locally.

I'll give out detailed info on our relationship with Sun King on Thursday night at the meeting.

Brett went to Grand Sporting Goods today. Here is the low down. He had them price a heavy duty 100% cotton Hanes t-shirt. It was only $0.50 cents more than a cheaper 50/50 t-shirt. They are a very high quality t-shirt. I used the same ones for basketball. I had them quote us on 50 t-shirts.

T-shirt price sizes:

S-M-L-XL  $4.50

Sizes XXL  add $3.00

Sizes XXXLadd $5.00

50 X $4.50 = $225.00

New screen =  $35.00

charge

Print on front = $65.00

or back 1 color

50 X $1.30 Each

Total=            $325.00

Tax=                $21.13

Total=            $346.13

Total per shirt $346.13/50=$6.92

For a pocket print or another full print it would cost another $35.00 new screen charge & $1.30 per print. This would add $2.13 to each shirt moving it up to $9.05.

I think it is a good price. What do Ops and y'all think?  Please keep one thing in mind: the ideal time to do this, I believe, would be for the World's Biggest. Some things have just changed at WB headquarters, and we can buy discs or shirts individually now; not just a disc + shirt package. Although they are offering a sweet WB2002 design in 4-color for about $7, but it won't have our name on it. I'll post an image if I can. Talk it over and let me know . . . . . .

My gut feeling tells me that we should wait on the Grand Sporting Goods t-shirts for now, unless someone wants to front the money. I cannot since I blew my wad fronting for discs. What if we could do the iron-on thing for good shirts (sweat or tee) and charged $8 or $10.  After we pay for the shirts and compensate Bill (hint) for the transfers, the rest is all profit and can be used for insurance or whatever. We can do multi-color transfers if we do them ourselves.

This is just a cautious suggestion because I see lots of money going out from the club for these events/merchandise, but not a lot coming in too fast. Yes, we will be making money off the custom-stamped discs, but we have not made enough to pay for them yet. So the profit will be a little while.

Ask around - either way I'll get about 5 shirts. :-)

That sounds good enough for me Jim. I like the SunKing's logo. It is on ebay. Search seller name sun_king28. He has some nice stuff.

Just an idea. Do you think we could sell 50 T-shirts before the World's Biggest on June 1st? I think we could. I would be willing to buy 2 so we really only need to sell 48. If we had the t-shirts made ASAP we could starting gettig those out by late April. If we sold each shirt for $10.00 we would make $3.00 per shirt netting a profit of $154.87. I hate charging more but we could use that money for 1/2 the insurance cost. It would be great to find a sponsor for the rest. Can anyone stop by Potesta's Pizza? I would think they would be willing to work with us if we keep going there for club meetings. Maybe they would pay $150.00 sponsorship fee for the weekend. What do you guys think?

I love T-shirts. I wish that they were the only type of clothing available aside from swimsuits. Tees are a great idea - I know I would want one, and I know several other kids that would want one too. $10 is a great price.

vanmaster_b

That's a good price for T-shirts. I just bought a bunch (5)  white sweatshirts at HOBO for $3 each, thinking we could put some transfers on those as well for tournaments or whatever.

$350 up front for shirts might be a little difficult to get unless a lot of people pre-ordered. In that case we would want to know what the design looked like beforehand. I guess by putting a sponser's logo on the shirt it would lower the cost as well, or would we rather use the sponers money directly for insurance?

The Papa Johns by my house states that they like to sponser community stuff. I'll go check them out tonight.

Great idea, guys.  I think the t-shirts can help you reach a larger audience.  It's almost like free moving advertisements.  I'd definitely be interested in getting one.
