Does anyone have an idea for a putting competition? I'd like to keep it uniform and track weekly high scores.

Also looking to elevate one of the baskets for putting.

Sounds like a nice early start on a winter plan, Brett.  Options might depend on how many baskets you can rustle up.

I've played various variations of horseshoes.  Usually one pt for one in, three for making both putts.  Playing doubles allows folks to play back and forth between two baskets pretty easily and quickly.  Maybe a bracketed match-play format so there's a champion team each week.  Season-long standings perhaps based on pts for winning matches and a bonus for winning each week.  Since you'll have 2 hours, you might also consider a putting stations course that everyone could circuit and tabulate points.  That would be maybe a nice starter while folks trickle in or to end things after the other matches finish up.

No points John. I am not betting on the Packers. I plan on coming out Monday night. It should be a good time.

This is awesome Brett! I will probably come by on Nov 21st when I am home for Thanksgiving break.  The Jackson family also has two Instep portable baskets, one with two sets of chains and one with one set of chains.  If you need baskets for that week of the 21st let me know and I can bring them with.

I like that speed putting contest - reminds me of the 3-point shooting contest.  I would recommend using 5 discs of identical colors but differing colors at each station.  That way you can easily add up the points at the end knowing what color was used at each station.

There are a lot of basketball related games that you can convert into disc golf games like knockout and P-I-G.

I don't know if they have any equipment they could set up, but it would be nice to have stuff that you could lay out to mimic a bush or something that you would have to putt around or go up and over to practice those pop shots a little bit more.

That's what kids are for. Nothing tests the nerves more than tossing putts over your tots.

my kids mimic tornados better than they mimic a tree rooted to the ground with only a slight to moderate breeze lol.

when i had a basement big enough i would set up multiple stations with different scenarios to putt with. this would only require a few baskets, masking tape, sharpie, and something to mark obstacles to avoid, such as cones, chairs, etc. 2 putts from each station. 1st putt worth 2 points, 2nd putt worth 1 point. top score wins. this is great for practicing the situations that happen outside. being confident in any style outside your own natural style was/is the goal.

examples:
- Spin putt
- Pitch putt
- Jump putt
- Straddle Putt (Step Left & Step Right)
- Push Putt
- Knee(s) Putt
- Hyzer
- Anhyzer
- Low Ceiling
- High Ceiling
- Throw for it
- or any combo of

I am pretty sure I am going to make the drive up tonight.  It'll be Rocs n' Aviars for dinner tonight.

how was the turnout tonight? was wondering if GUTS is a possibility in the future? I can supply the guts 'disc' if needed and possibly 5 local's from round lake. All avid discers but none have played GUTS before. I recall asking about GUTS many years ago, any interest now?

Crappy turnout tonight. Only 7. Hoping more come of they won't continue. The soccer field is in high demand during the winter and we are lucky to use it.

Guts is possible if people want to play.
