The current weather report is for 60 degrees and rain, but I'm on it.  I'm going to check with Shipping to see if we can move the rain up to late Saturday.

I talked to Shipping.  They're thinking it would be just as easy to deliver that rain a day later than a day earlier, but I didn't want to ask for that because I didn't want to owe Them anything more than I already do.  Anyway, www.weather.com has already updated the forecast and we're now at 10% chance of precip and a high of 62.

I did not even ask about warmer weather because I like playing in cool weather.

Jon, I got confirmation from Samantha Stevens (I think it's so cool that Illiana has its own celebrity disc golfers -- didn't she star in Bewitched?) that our pre-regs are received and we're in line for extra stuff.  I'm working on getting a big pile of work doneso i'll be free to go.

Compares more to Kenosha without the college or Lansing Grand Woods or maybe McNaughton with more poison ivy.  Very schuly, lots of opportunities to screw yourself but not a hard course if you resist that temptation, some fairly open holes, a lot of holes in very young growth woods.

Well, Baby Huey shot best of those of us who were hanging out together today (that would be Bruce, Brett, Kelsey and Jon).

Brett shot an ok 57 on the orginal course in the morning and then shot a hot 49 in the afternoon on the blue course to come in 10th place out of about 40 some advanced players. He got to play in the final 9 and I think moved up a couple of spots during that last round. Brett took home the player pack, a full stomach (they fed us between rounds and then again after the rounds!), and $60 in prizes.

Kelsey played against the only other yute there, a boy, who outshot her by a few strokes in the morning, but Kelsey outshot him by one stroke in the afternoon. Kelsey lost the day, but one 2 CTPs and found a disc without a name. After the disc went unclaimed all day, she took that home also.

Bruce had fun.

I shot a 57 on the Blue course in the morning and was the leader on the lead card by one stroke. I was playing my first PDGA tournament as a Novice, but it still felt good to be top on the top card. I've never been there before. I shot a non-stellar 10 over the second round on the original course and dropped back to 3rd place. It was a fun round, though with me and the guy in second trading places several times during the round until he pulled away in the last few holes. I came in 3rd out of 19 and took home $30 in merch plus I won a CTP disc!

There were about 160 people there and they were not expecting that many at all!!! That threw them off only slightly and the TDs ran a rather smooth event. Homies family cooked hotdogs and hamburgers for us all day and had more than enough for everyone. Prizes were great. Some of the pros and Adv were finishing up the final 9 pretty much at dark, but that's just because there were so many people we had both courses filled.

This is the best tournament I've been to all year.

Peace, Homie.

What a great day! Where do I start?

I got up @ 5:30AM to pick up Jon. We followed Bruce & Kelsey to Cedar Lake. It's really not that bad of a drive early Sunday morning. In traffic, it would take forever.

We pulled into the park & the first person I saw was Kevin Smart. He drove down on Saturday & slept in his vehicle that night. Lemon Lake County Park is huge. What an awesome scenic park. There are several ponds & lakes. All the leaves have started to change colors. It was a great day around 70 degrees. I also saw a ton of people from past events. The Walsh Bros & many others.

I had debated all week to play intermediate or advanced. Since my rating is 917 I thought I might play intermediate since I am an intermediate player. I also saw Pat Blake shoot a -12 at Streamwood on Saturday & he has a 950 rating. That shook my confidence a little. There were some highly rated advanced players there. I decided to go ahead and push myself so I played advanced. The player package included a T-Shirt, Homie Mini, and Homie Towel.

I started off on the Original Course. The wind was pretty tough between 10-15 MPH. I played average for most of the round but hit the bogie train with 3 in a row. My stupidity cost me several other strokes during that round & I felt I could have easily shot par. I ended up shooting a 57/+3. I found out later the original course shot much tougher than the Blue Course. This is a tough course with a wide variety of shots. It is a very crowded course with tees & baskets very close to each other. I cleared out a tee box with an errant throw :P .

Between rounds they served lunch. You could get 2 hamburgers, 2 hot dogs, or a combination of a hot dog & hamburger. You could also get a pop, cookies, & bag of chips. It hit the spot.

After being a little discouraged from round 1, They sent us back out for the 2nd round. This time I was playing the Blue Course. I found this course fit my style of throwing. I started off slow but turned it on about 6 holes into the round. I finished with only 1 bogie. Dreaded #3, a 400ft alley shot thru dense woods. A 4 was like a par so I didn't feel so bad. I ended up shoting a 49/-5 for a 106/-2.

They ended up serving dinner as well. It was the same great food as lunch & it again hit the spot big time.

After dinner I checked the score board. I managed to move up into the top 1/3 of the field. The top 1/3 played in a final 9. There was about 50 advanced players. The top 4 Pro, Advanced, & the top 4 of a few other divisions were followed by a camera crew. They are making a DVD and each of the top 4 get a copy. How cool is that? I was Tied for 16th at the time. Again, they sent the Advanced out to the Blue Course. I loved that. I ended up shooting a 25/-2 for that 9. I missed a tough putt on #5 (the 430footer across the lake) & took a 4 to end the round. For the day I shot 131/-4. I moved up & tied for 10th. I won $65.00 worth of merch.

There was a CTP on all 36 holes. The ace pool was around $250.00 split between 3 players. There was also a huge 50/50 CTP on Blue Course #18.

This was an awesome tournament. I will definitely go back next year. I think there were 170+ players. The only negative I had was the awards ceremony. I understand why, since we finished right as the sun was going down. They had problems getting payouts out due to the big field. I'm not sure who won but Chris Herren was leading going into the final 9.

I never met Homie but he must have been a cool guy. His mom & all of his friends have put together a great memorial tournament for him.

Mike,
I've tried to e-mail Brian about the Homie Fall Festival. Have they sent the results into the PDGA? He never replied. Figured you might be able to find out.
Thanks
