This is great winning all these games with the defense, but I'm not sure if its sustainable.  Especially when we come up against teams like Green Bay, New York, and Atlanta.

We've got to come up with some sort of passing attack.  Right now 25th in yards per game, 24th in efficiency, 25th in completion %, 21st in TD passes, and we've been sacked the 5th most in the league.

Cutler has not played well this year.  You can't say he doesn't have any targets.  Bush and Forte have been a nice RB duo.  The offensive line totally sucks, but not any more than it has the last 2 seasons.  So, I'm not sure why he is putting up worse numbers now that he has better weapons?  I keep hearing that Tice has improved things because he lets Cutler roll out more than Martz did.  Really?  Why aren't we scoring more points then?

I have a feeling the Bears are going to need an above average passing game before this season is over.  The defense can not keep playing this well.  They are good, but they aren't 1985 Bears or 2000 Ravens good.  We need a passing game!

If the Bears had as good of an offence as they did in '85 they would have a lock on the division even if this defense isn't quite '85 good. But any win is a good win!

One of the Fox Network NFL guys was talking about the NFC North standings before the games on Sunday. He was talking about how solid MN is and how Greenbay is reay to surge. Then they brought up the standings graphic and he says "Of course the Bears are still TECHNICALLY in first" but I think this race belongs to the Vikings and Packers. What a moron. I don't even think he realized that the Bears were in first until they brought up the graphic. Just glad that they are still "technically" in first place this morning! :D

The Bears are getting respect from ESPN.  Up to #5 in this week's power rankings.

Listening to sports radio they have said in Vegas that the Bears are seen as the most over rated team in the NFL... Only one way to prove them wrong and thats to keep them W's comin!

People on sports radio don't know what that term means! :D

Overrated or not, it doesn't matter.  The good thing about the NFL is it will get settled on the field.

Well that game did nothing to make me feel better about the Bears chances this year.  Outgained 416 to 210, time of poss. 36 min CAR  23 min CHI at home against a 1 win team.  Just dumb luck Steve Smith fell down and we got that pick 6.

Happy to get the win, but a little bummed that this offense is showing zero signs of improvement.  If things stay the way they are, I have a feeling that once the wheels fall off its going to get real ugly real fast.

Also, has anybody noticed that Devin Hester sucks?

Ugly win. Offence looked good on the first drive and then they just fizzled. I think the Bears' defense would have dominated the game if the officials would have called at least half of Carolina's O line's holding.

That game was unbelievable. The Bears had no business even having a shot to win it. Totally manhandled on the offensive side of the ball. There were 3 perfectly throw balls that were dropped on 3rd downs (Hester, Marshall, & the TE). The offense is pretty bad. The missed FG didn't help either.

On the other side of it wow the Bears defense is unreal. They bend but don't break. Another scoring TD. Forced Newton fumble at the goal line and almost took more points off the board.

Any win is a good win. Time to move on. If the offense doesn't eff up we have a shot to win every game.

I always fly a flag in front of our house. Something that I looked forward to when we bought our place because we always had a flag at the house I grew up in. Anyway, on game day I have a Bears flag that I fly. Goes up in the morning and comes down after the game if they lose. If they win, it stays up. So its been flying since the week after the Packers game. Really surprised it didn't come down today.

Peyton Manning would be a strong candidate for MVP at the half-way point.  For me this is his most impressive season of his career because of the number of major changes and uknowns he has encountered.  He never missed a game before last season and he played his entire career under the same offensive coordinator.  Not to mention he now plays outdoors in Denver for a team that was 31st in passing last season and he underwent 3 neck surgeries since last playing a game.

He has the highest passer rating in the NFL and is 2nd in yards per game.  With the AFC looking shaky, I think Denver is poised to make a run at one of the top 2 playoff seeds.  The only above .500 team left on their schedule is Baltimore.

Hester the WR sucks...no question about that.

Hester the Returner's mere presence on the field caused the Panthers to give up good field position all day.  I believe the average starting point for the Bears O was the 37 or 38...which is ridiculous.

Watching that Panthers punt go out of bounds after 5 or 6 yards was not something you see in an average NFL game.  It was windy out there, but not that windy.

Tice needs to figure out how to call more running plays ASAP, which will give the O Line some confidence and open up more passing plays.  Cutler's audibles have been hindering the progress.  I hope they can figure it out soon because the D appears to be Super Bowl worthy.

The bears were the big winner on the throwback bowl with the steelers.  Those bears throwbacks were nice. I like that classic look.  Those steelers uniforms were brutal.

The Steelers throwbacks looked like they had all broken out of prison together!

glad I was not around in 1939 and had to watch a full season in those ugly things! I could honestly only watch the Steelers on offense. standing still it was okay, but when the players moved around, after awhile I got a headache!

But the Steelers win was nowhere near as UGLY as the Bears win was!!

Strange comment. There are lots of things one can say about Cutler. Lots of them nasty and most of them true. However, one thing that certainly cannot be said about a quarterback who went out for the season last year while making a tackle, who led the league in getting sacked, who pretty much refused to come out of the Lions game after getting his ribs injured, who stands without flinching to throw knowing he is going to get killed...is that he is a pussy. Tool? Probably. Pussy?  Not.  Also, the latter word is a poor choice to use in comparing the two quarterbacks because it is precisely the problem that has plagued the Pittsburgh player.  His predilection for it almost precluded him from playing.  >:D

I was going to post a response to Doug's bullchit, but Barish summed it up quite nicely.   :o

was referring to that NFC Championship game where someone got hurt and rode a stationary bike, then poutted on the bench.(Brees and Rivers played with that same injury) The Pittsburgh player plays with broken bones!! Ben is in the Elite QB talk, Cutler NEVER is!!

and Jason, you talk about my BS, what about your's when you said the Bears D is SB worthy?? who have they beat over .500? Indy at 4-3 is it. all other wins are from sub .500 teams. Lets see how they fare against the Texans, 49ers, Packers and Vikings!? beat a team that has a winning record then maybe get excited. But honestly, this offense wont beat a Giants, or Packers in the playoffs.  so put the pipe down and wait until January to talk about being SB worthy.  geeeessh ::)

Almost everything you post on the football threads is bullshit Doug because thats pretty much all you post. You post about things that haven't happened yet. Who can argue against that? You complain about the Bears schedule. No one here made the schedule so who can argue about that. You post vile things like an eight year old stirs up a hornets nest with a stick. You post all of this bullshit just so you can sit back and giggle like a little boy about how clever you are. You and your rapist QB have a lot in common.
