2 pitchers (Scott Feldman & Scott Baker) to 1 year deals. They also signed a cheap backup catcher.

so ignoring the cardinals fan, my name has come up to the top of the waiting list for Cubs season tickets, and I have a chance to possibly buy season tickets for next season.  I get to go look at seats on December 8th.  The only complication is that there's no way I'd be able to afford 2 seats worth of tickets for 81 games.  So I'm looking for some people that would be interested in pitching in for 1 to 4 games worth, and if we get enough people, I'll actually get these season tickets.  If you're interested let me know.  I don't know where the seats will be yet.  I know that there will be more than one option.

I'll just throw this fact out for your consideration, Scott.  Last season many of the tickets ended up being worth less than face value on the secondary market (StubHub).  I would expect that trend to continue in 2013.  So I guess it depends on how many games you actually plan to attend.  If you're looking to get your money back on the tickets you don't use, it might be tough.

That said, if you decide to get them that is pretty cool.  Its still Wrigley Field.  The summer night games and weekend games will still be a good value.

If you are in it for the long haul I'd jump on it. With the upcoming year you'd probably be able to upgrade.  I'd be interested in 3-4 games as long as I can get 1 STL game. My wife is a DeadBird fan.

I'll take a few off your hands if you get some. If you can get aisle seats I would prefer those. Easy in, easy out.  ;)

The Cubs have come to terms with Japanese relief pitcher Kyuji Fujikawa on a two-year contract.

They also signed Ian Stewart and Nate Schierholtz to 1 year deals.

Supposedly the Cubs make a 5 yr $75M offer to Anibal Sanchez.  Its up to the Tigers if they want to match it.

Here are Sanchez' career numbers.  http://espn.go.com/mlb/player/stats/_/id/6472/anibal-sanchez

He'll be 29 next year.  3.75 career ERA and a 48-51 record.

scott ,   my brother has a package of games that he splits up
for the cubs    2 ailse seats lower infield terrace  4rth row
nice seats down the 1st base side  50 bucks each ish  ?? not sure on that

he usually has 4 other people ( 2 long time buyers ) and floaters

its about 9 to  11 games out of   55   weekend and nights

i will check to see what he has available

you do NOT get any rights for playoff tix unfortunately

the way it works for picking the games is this:
we show up at someones house with the tix and
dice or cards are used to determine drafting order
then you pick each game accordingly

he also has sox plan of  27 games that I usually take  7  or 8  out of
he does Not have sox tix available this year
only cubs

this may be the way to test if you can handle a large amount of games
with out the overall $$$ outlay to the cubs

i will text my brother and let you know

Apparently the Cubs just have a hankering to overpay a mediocre starting pitcher this offseason.  The Anibal Sanchez thing fell through, but now it looks like we've got Edwin Jackson for 4 years $52M!  Great!  Thank god we didn't do anything crazy, like use that money to sign a player that would actually creat some excitement at Wrigley.  I predict within a year we'll be counting down the days until we can get this contract off the books.  There is a reason this guy is working on his 8th team in 10 years.

I agree he's mediocre at best. He is a starting pitcher that eats up innings. Not sure if he's overpaid or not. Starting pitchers get a ridick about of money these days. Dempster just got 2 years 26.5.

I'll take that Dempster deal over this Edwin Jax deal any day of the week.  We'll be lucky if Jackson gives us close to the production we got from Maholm on his 1 year deal last season.  If we needed to fill out the rotation with a veteran, another short-term deal was the way to go.  We're too far from actually competing to be throwing away long-term money on a journeyman guy like this.  If we had a championship contender and Jackson was coming in to be our #3 or #4, I'd be excited.  But Edwin Jackson isn't going to make a damn bit of difference to this team next year or the year after that.

I know the Cubs are only going to spend X amount of dollars, so its frustrating to see $52M get thrown down on a guy like this.  These are the kind of deals that got Jim Hendry in trouble, and got Theo Epstein in trouble at his last job.

That Shark was fantastic yesterday. I'm not a fan of him pitching the 8th inning though. We should be protecting his arm for the future. No reason to ride the horse into the ground this season.

Solid pitching but can't win if you don't score. Only 2 hits all night.  Wanted to break the TV in the 7th. Had a chance to put some pressure on the Pirates and let them off the hook. Strike out looking with runners on 1st & 2nd.  Strike out looking & a pop up.  with the bases jacked. Terrble display right there.
