Just found out that I'll be moving to Chicago this summer. What' the word on the DG scene there? Is it possible to live near downtown and still be reasonably close(under 30 minutes) to a good course? Where's all the action take place and all that kind of stuff.

Thanks!
Steve

The courses along I-80 are probably your best bet. Joliet to Hammond Indiana. I'm not sure how long it would take to get to those courses.  I think all those courses are within a reasonable driving distance. Saying that, driving anywhere in Chicago & the Burbs can take forever depending on traffic.  Cedar Lake, IN is awesome & worth the drive from the city. West Park in Joliet is a fun course. Airspuds can give you more info since he lives down that way. Good luck with the move.

Hi Steve:

If you're actually living near *downtown*, the best bet is Lombard, which depending on traffic will be anywhere from 25 to 80 minutes. Joliet has more interesting courses, about 60-90 min south depending.

I live on the far north side of Chicago and for the last year or so I've tended to go north to Waukegan (around 45 min), Round Lake (about an hour) and Kenosha WI (slightly over an hour), all fun courses. From where I am Lombard is usually about 35 min out but an hour back.

On a typical weekend I can either get to Joliet or Kenosha in about the same time +-15 min or so.

Once you get in town keep me (us) posted on *where* you are in the city and I can give you more advice. There are lots of courses in the area but none in the city itself unfortunately; if you don't get out early you should plan on making 'a day of it'.

Good luck!
thanks,

Could I possibly play any worse if I didn't practice putting??

Oh sure, Waukegan might be an hour's drive from downtown, but that's where the fun is...............

Thanks for the responses! I guess I'm spoiled having three courses within 15 minutes of home and one about four minutes from work. And we only get snow a couple times a year!

Looking forward to meeting you all this summer!
