I have played both as well.  Lincoln is definatly a must play!!!!  What an awesome course, hope they make it permenant!!!

The other course there is cool, but short.  It just keeps going back and forth on this gully where two hills meet.  Your sick of going up and down the same two hills by the time you get to hole 18.

Lincoln park though, oh what a great course.  I would compare it to a Token Creek type course.  Very fun to play, with a bunch of different challenges, on a really nice park.

Bump was to bring the thread back up to the top of the list.. If you notice, all of the threads except the top few have a 'last post' date of about three weeks ago. Thats when I moved to this new board software.

One problem with the conversion was that it lost the last post time on all the topics and everything was all out of date so I compared against the old board and posted an empty reply to 'bump' that thread back to the top of each forum.

Make sense?

RECENT NEWS ABOUT SPRINGFIELD, IL

Leagues - Wednesday night starting March 10 the first night will be at
>Douglas - Start time 5:00
>Tournaments - I will be submitting to the PDGA for a C tier event for October
>2-3
>We have a new shipment of discs in that will be available for purchase at the
>two person scramble (February 29th 1:00 at Lincoln Park).  The Ace Pot is
>currently at 26 dollars.

Here are some issues that needed addressing :

Hole # 8... the tee location will be leveled off to connect with the drive that they put in to try and solve the problem. I am going to talk with Lowe's about getting a donation to the PD for retaining wall blocks to be used to dig into or fill in areas to make them level and keep mud from getting onto the pads (like what happens at Douglas).

RE: Hole #13... the pro tee is being removed so that it will become a "pro/adv" tee. The main reason for putting the pro tee down by the road was so that people would see it from the #12 basket to lead them to #13. I think that with the proper signage, this really will not be an issue.

RE: Hole #12/17 crossover... it may be confusing to a degree, but with proper signage and maps, I think it will not be an issue. It is NOT a safety issue since it is flat and the crossover point is only about 20' in front of the #17 tee so everyone can see everyone else. During tournaments, it should be announced that players are to walk around the #17 tee or get a stroke penalty.

I am not sure when the tee pads will be installed. Spring is their busy season trying to get everything opened so I would not look for it to happen until April or even May. I have not heard if the signs have been ordered or are in. I asked Scott about the big map like at Douglas to see if they were working on it during the winter but I have not heard anything yet. Since my ex-wife has been in the hospital most of the winter, I have not been able to go out and create course layouts for the signs as I had hoped. But now that she has returned, I hope to get started on them so when the signs do get in, I can make them quickly.

It would be great  to get park benches and trash cans located around the course. The area 5-11 really needs these items. I also hope to get them to put in a port-a-potty somewhere on the course. If anything, it would be nice to have to prevent a problem with people going into the woods to go pee. I think a good "hidden" location would be in the corner of the woods by #11 pro/adv tee location.

Went & played the Capital City Challenge. Very fun courses!

Douglas Park
Somewhat short course from the concrete. There are alternate longer grass tees that add much more difficulty to the course. There are elevation changes that were used very nicely. You need a whole bag of shots to throw on this course to score well from the longs. Lots of tree obstacles.

Lincoln Park
This is the best course in Springfield. It is on my top 5 list in IL & probably top 3. 3 sets of very nice cement tees. It's a long course in a beautiful course. There are some nice elevation changes and some tough holes. Shooting under par from the longs is a good score.
