Looks like I'll be at the meeting. I'll try to be there on time. But, the trip from Schaumburg with Traffic could be quite a chore.

I'll see you all there.

BTW - The glow round? I have nothing that glows - Does the club have anything for purchase or will I be relegated to caddy?

I'm sure folks will be able to provide you with some glowstix for your discs. I do have 50 mini stix I bought for the widdershins and while I don't think we'll use 'em all I don't know how far I'd want to dip into them.
Don't forget your towel!

Cool, thanks. Being new to the whole night thing, where is a good place to  pick up these glow stix? I can't say as though I have ever seen any that small that I would be able to attach them to a disc. Then again, I've never looked for them either. If I get out of work soon enough, I could go pick some of my own up.

Any sporting goods store that sells night fishing supplies will carry 1.5" and 2" stix marketed as bobber lights. You can usually find them for ~$1.50/2 stix. If you're into spending, for roughly $4/stick you can get these super bright reusable disposable LED lights that make your disc virtually impossible to lose.

You secure the stick(s) to the top or bottom of your disc as close to centered as possible using clear packing tape.

If you get up to the area quickly enough, you could always make a stop @ Bass Pro by Gurnee Mills.

Words of wisdom concerning Gurnee Mills, tho... If the eastern ring of the mall drive is packed heading out of the mall don't go that way. Instead go around the circle and come out roughly 4 blocks to the west. take a right, then get into the far left lane immediately as Hunt Club is the next intersection about a block West.
Don't forget your towel!

Let us hope that the whores of evil no longer loiter on the doorsteps of your path beckoning you into the brothel of despair, and that here and after may present them with the most rigid manistfestation of a firm and manly will.

Agenda
10/25/04
7:30PM

Allan S., Dan M., Damon S., Mike C., Brett C., Jon B., Becky B., Maddisen B., & David H. attended.

1. Finances
Discussed

2. Purchase of score port & parts to complete portable basket.

DISContinuum is going to purchase a score port from Gateway. The one we currently have in possession was shipped for the Widdershins. It costs $65.00 if we purchase that exact one. Gateway said they would make us a custom design on the top of another one. Mirth is going to get exact prices. This is a great deal since score ports usaully cost $150.00+.

This winter DISContinuum will be purchasing a portable base w/wheel & upper assembly to complete a portable basket. Currently we have a pole & basket.

3. Membership discussion for 2005
2005 dues have been set.
$15.00 includes a bag tag
Family Plan-> 1 adult paid membership & each junior 15 & under is $6.00 each

4. Looking ahead to 2005 Bag Tags & Schedule
*New site/event to be added to IO Series*

This year we are ordering leather tags that will be laser engraved. Jon presented a design at the meeting. It will be posted on the club members section for opinions.

UW Parkside will be added to the IO Series in 2005.

The DISContinuum Blast will be added to the IO Series in 2005 & it will be a trophy only event.

I am also waiting to hear back from Lombard Park District about an event. They said they'd get back to me by the end of the week.

The 2005 IO Series may possibly have 5 events.

Possible Ice Bowl @ new course. See Below

The DISContinuum schedule of events probably won't be complet until January/February.

5. Club shirts
Hopefully the shirts will be done this Friday & ready to be distributed at the Widdershins.

6. Business cards
These will be made probably after the first of the year when club positions are filled.

7. Widdershins discussion
Mirth has everything ready to go. He can post his info if he wants. Glow to follow. Come out & have some fun.

8. Club election discussion.
Anyone want to run for a club position. Nominations? Elections are coming soon.

9. Other topics?

A. Proposed Courses
Jon has been working on 2 projects for pay to play courses. One is close to becoming reality if it's approved. If approved it will be installed by the 1st of the year. There is a possibility of DISContinuum being involved & benefitting in various ways. This could be a possible location of the 2005 Ice Bowl. Jon, care to add more input but not too much?

B. League Payout Chart
Brett will be modifying the payout chart for leagues & present it to the board. They will only be minor changes,

C. Tax Exempt Status
Discussed. Still waiting on a response from the goverment.

Didn't we say last night that the 2005 IOS may have as many as 6 events next year, which is why the Blast may be trophy only?

yes, we did. I think we are looking at a minimum of 5 events for the IOS for next year with a possible 6th event.

Sorry,
I had started typing up the first summary of the meeting. Right before I was going to post the computer froze. I quickly threw it together. Yes, it would be 6 if Lombard comes thru. If not, 5.

Response to meeting notes:

and
9. A.

The park board met last night and discussed the most promising project that I've been working on. The park manager that presented to the board said that it was well received. However, there are two other projects in their final planning stages for that park. They will not interfere with disc golf land, but the board thinks that taking on another project right now is too much for their human resources. They want to look at the proposal again in 60 days with a possible summer installation. The park manager was planning to get the course in the ground before the end of the year. We are hopeful, but disapointed. It was a hope of mine to use this venue for the Ice Bowl, but it looks like that won't happen.

The course proposal for the Chicago park is still in the beginning stages, but is possible to see a course there next summer.

The course way out in the boonies is going before the board this week. I'm not as excited about that one because it will be so far away, but it will be very good disc golf course. Not knowing as much about this project, I'm not sure what the chances of it actually going in the ground are.

What Chicago park is being considered?  Is it the one on the south side that has been bandied about the board or is it some other park?

I am not at liberty to say. The $ man behind this made me promise the strictest confidentiality if I wanted to be involved.
