Part of the best news of this course is that it is Cook County Forest Preserve land! although the course is managed by a golf course management company, someone on the Cook County Forest Preserve District Board had to sign off on putting disc golf there. This might possibly open other doors in the forest preserve system for other courses.
There's dozens of examples all over the county, I'm sure, but I went by Schiller Woods (Cumberland/Irving Park) to work every day for about 2 mos last fall and kept thinking there could be a great course there....
thanks,

Could I possibly play any worse if I didn't practice putting??

Some things about the installation:

We are going to need help with the installation.

Reese will rent a power auger, but  that will need two people to run.

We will be using the existing tees (probably) for the pro tees. The existing ball golf tees are huge concrete slabs with a carpet on it like a driving range. We will probably use part of the concrete slab for the pro tee. I'm not sure how we will mark the tee at this time, but I think Reese has some ideas.

We will be putting in amateur tees. They will be dug out (again with power equipment), limestone put down and then the Fly 18 pads put over that.

Reese will probably ship the baskets without chains to save half on the shipping. So, the baskets will probably need to be chained.

Reese has done this plenty of times and will coordinate the whole install. However, we will need a few extra hands to help out. I am not expecting this to be back breaking hand shoveling or anything like that.

Stay tuned for more information and please consider helping us with the install.

Investing in a Professional (UNION) Operator may pay off in long run.
If a Power Operated Auger Tractor is used Then it would make it feasible for multiple pin placements, concrete, high end collars and Locks.

Prep. Three Pins Minimum...Having the option for diffent pin placements are more valuable than multiple tee area.

Easy in and out, Moving Baskets/Targets will keep the interest high.

Multiple pin placements will enhance all disc golfer experiances provide value added long term success.

Any disc golf course that is looking to charge a fee should have multiple pin/target placement.

I had the pleasure of playing at one of reese's courses in FL...  It was fun, but it took forever as ball golfers take to long to play..  Just hit the damn thing...

I'm sure that I'll go to this course a few times a year, maybe if they have a ballgolf/discgolf fun event  one round of each..  That would be sweet.
Let us hope that the whores of evil no longer loiter on the doorsteps of your path beckoning you into the brothel of despair, and that here and after may present them with the most rigid manistfestation of a firm and manly will.

Disc Golfers always have the go ahead !
Never yield right of way to a ball golfer.

more on this later on different thread.

If this is fun course to play, then I could see myself wanting to play it 5-10 times in a year, if I can find people to play with that often.  Definitely wouldn't go out there to play by myself.  I did look at where it was and Jon's right, its not far off the expressway, so it'll be an easy drive.  I'll definitely give it a chance and I am very curious to see how this will play out.

I think the amateur tees are required on a course of this length. This way a family can play together or a pro and a lower am. I've already told my ball golfing friends and family that I will play them straight up on the same tees but I think some people are going to look at that length and want a shorter tee. As far as more baskets, I think it'd be great to have more baskets or more pin placements. However, it's not my money.

Jon and I are driving down hole 4, I think, at Trafalgar and these two old ladies are coming up hole 1.

"Are either of you boys playing a Top Flight?"

"No, we're both playing Discraft."

Reese uses Dr. Fred's baskets, which are a little funky, but the Fly 18 concept is great fun.   Brett and Dan could not get enough of Willow Brook when they came out for the Cali States.

YES YES YES 2 tee areas (2 min) and 3 Pins (3 min) = 6 different looks 6x18 , 108 different layouts, provides the odds of playing the same course more than once very slim. Using disc golf math I Calculate 1944 possible different layouts at one course. Disc golf math also tells me that Im 99% certain that this number is incorrect but you get the point.

I live at Irving Park and Central, this course is 20 blocks (5-7 minutes) away.  Being almost as avid a ball-golfer as I am a disc golfer, this is fantastic news.  I have a yearly membership in the Forest Preserve Golf System (managed by Billy Casper Golf Inc.)  and I've played this course before.  It is not my favorite ball golf course in the FP system (that would be George Dunne National, down south in Oak Forest), but it should make a great disc golf course.  I'm going to e-mail Reese to let him know of my proximity and availability to help with whatever needs to be done.  I am elated.
have the good fun.

hi Gang I am looking forward to comming to chicago. Thanks To Jon for this great course. Please keep an open mind this is different golf. Thanks Fly 18  pricing for walking will be next week.11,000 of fun

Edgebrook 2005 Rates
These are for 18 hole rounds.

Week Day:
Walking round - $12
Round with cart - $15

Week Day Twilight (after 2pm):
Walking round - $9
Round with cart - $12

Week End:
Walking round - $15
Round with cart - $18

Week End Twilight (after 2pm):
Walking round - $12
Round with cart - $15

So, during the week after 2pm is a great value at just 50 cents per hole! I was hoping for walking rates around $10 and we got them starting at $9---I think that's pretty good. The cart for $3 more is a good deal also--carts are fun! I don't think you're going to get onto an 11,000 foot Chicago area golf course for less than these prices.

I hope to see you out there on April 2nd!
