I won't be able to play on Saturday. I've volunteered to help work the tournament (I am on the tournament committee so it was the least I could do).

What happened with tags at the IOS #2? Fallon said he never got one back.

We completely forgot about them at the Prairie Open.

I would like to request a bag tag challenge ruling from the club officers please.

At Manitowoc over the weekend, there was a small group of club members/tag holders present. Prior to the the 1st round there was no discussion of a tag challenge. At lunch, another member challanges me to a 2nd round tag challenge which I decline. After the round this member (who beat me) demands my tag and will not take no for an answer claiming I am not allowed to decline the challenge. In order to avoid the ensuing argument, I turn over my tag and reluctantly take his.

If this is an appropriate challenge as determined by the club, then I will no longer carry/display my tag. The incident nearly ruined a fun road trip to one of my favorite courses.

If you were on the same card then the challenge was manditory. If you were on separate cards then the challenge was declinable.
Don't forget your towel!

Mitch

For the record, we were on separate cards.

...hmm, I think it's declinable only if there's a challenge on your own card.

The old rules look fuzzy, but it's a *game* for crying out loud....  ;)

(and for the record, I'm not the 'other club member' in question here....  :D  )
thanks,
Damon

Could I possibly play any worse if I didn't practice putting??

shawn

he should have never turned it over...  the rule is only if on the same card or if you agree to play if noone on either one of  your card's has a tag.

you cearly did not agree, so it is still your tag.

Damon, by the way...   this is more then, "just a game."  it's an addiction and you all should get some help..  :D
Let us hope that the whores of evil no longer loiter on the doorsteps of your path beckoning you into the brothel of despair, and that here and after may present them with the most rigid manistfestation of a firm and manly will.

Mitch, I was informed that you sent an email questioning the bagtag rules. Although I have a witness that the bagtag challenge was not declined, please see club officer Mirth's Jan 7, 2005's posting stating,

"Challenge is manditory at tournaments and singles leagues within groups, not required at doubles during casual play. Of course, challenges during casual play are highly encouraged.

Our vision this year for the challenge is one for fun and to see who can defend the low tags successfully all year... not for people to run into hiding if/when they win a low tag because there's an end of year prize attached to it."

I suspect that Bruce Brakel could draft a sample legal agreement that all club members could sign and we could have this notarized prior to the commencement of this highly competitive competition. (Even if it was for bagtag #34).

If you desire not to carry your bagtag for future competition and keep it in your purse, you are really missing the spirit.  The goal of the bagtag competition is chasing the top numbers and where numbers reside during the year.  It really comes down to the end of the year.

Rather than relying on rules of avoidance, lead by example. One of the Discontinuum players at Oly Fields beat me, we had no discussion of bagtags and when we compared how he did compared to me, I freely handed him my bagtag #10.  He was an amateur and it was one of his first tournaments. I suspect that the number meant more to him and I will have other opportunities. This is the essence of bagtags!  You should be banned from bagtag challenges for your actions (or non-actions) at the end of 2004.  To hide with one of the top four numbers for months is unacceptable and the specific problem the club struggles with the bagtag challenge. Don't worry, I will not challenge you to another bagtag competition and do not plan on playing bagtag next year.  You will be safe and you can take up knitting.

Dissapointed, David Brown.
