Ah yes.  Brett will be running the Autumn League.  However, it would be a good idea to keep one league always at Bevier.  Consistency is important to get new players out, and Bevier is the perfect new player's course. I suggest that we keep Autumn Best Shot at Bevier period.

So let's introduce a Brand New League:

the CIRCUS League!

Here's the idea:  Play one of the closest 4 or 5 courses each week. Whatever you play on Thursday, you play again on Saturday. This way you can show once or both times. There are no points!  Only cash - only for that day!

Thursdays - 6pm start - bring glow discs

Saturdays - 9:30am start

18 holes each date

$1 per player

2 Pools, Upper/Lower

Individual Play

1 winner take all in each division

Ace Pool $1 optional

Alternating locations ranging from Milwaukee to Joliet, kinda like practice for Safari 2003!

Example:

Thursday, Oct 10th - Parkside

Sunday, Oct 13th - Parkside

Thursday, Oct 17th - Round Lake

Saturday, Oct 20th - Round Lake

Thursday, Oct 24th - Adler

Sunday, Oct 27th - Adler

Thursday, Oct 31st - Valley View

Sunday, Nov 3rd - Valley View

Or something like that.  Any comments????

jim

Forget the circus league idea.  I won't be able to make half of 'em either and I think we could come up with something better in Spring.  Besides, the 12-event 2003 Safari Series will be a rocking good time that people will tend to attend before a screwy, no points league........

jim

Whatever you can do is appreciated!  I'll be whackin' til the whackin's through.

jim

THANKS to everyone who came out to play and for those who stayed late and helped whack and measure holes!  Brett and I lined the fairway on 8 - man it looks sweet. Mirth and Brett also created some nice pathways in the woods.  Just in case the WPD doesn't mow, or in case we get 60+ people, we set up a sixth temp hole running along Yorkhouse with some treelove! Woo-hoo!

BTW, Brett and Jay shot a 13-Under for a League Record! Great shooting guys!

jim

Oooh nooo!  It's gonna be too windy!  It's gonna be too cold!  I want my mommy! Oh, how ever will I finish 27 big holes? Wahhhhh!

jim

Brett, el Supremo Monkey Butt, has strode ahead to a double-digit point lead over Mirth and Myk. He's been playing like crazy! Speaking of crazy, Jason really threw great yesterday, nabbing the CTP and first place! Woo-hoo!

jim

Although we are just beginning to establish a "real" and accurate handicapping method, the one we're using does work OK. It brings an edge of clarity where there was none. It brings light into the darkness.  Water in the desert! Oxygen in the stratusphere!  Life on Mars!  Hanna into the Barbera! ...  until we reach the center, the pinnacle of disc golf itself: the never-ending drive!  A-hahahahahahaha!

jim

It is a special monkey. You may not touch it. Now is the time on Sprokets when ve dance!

BTW Mr. C, what has happened to your home page? And your name?

jim

Mirth, nice job on BS stats!  THANKS!

RULE: 803.02    MARKING THE LIE

A. After each throw, the thrown disc must be left where it came to rest until the lie is established by the placing of a marker. This can be done by placing a mini marker disc on the playing surface between the hole and the disc, directly in line with the hole, touching the thrown disc. A player may instead choose, without touching or repositioning the thrown disc, to use the thrown disc as the marker. The marker may not be moved until the throw is released. A marker inadvertently moved prior to the throw shall be returned to its correct location.

B. A player is only required to mark the lie with a mini marker disc when repositioning the lie under the rules. This includes the following rules: out-of-bounds, disc above the playing surface, lost disc, unsafe lie, relocated for relief, interference, or repositioning the lie within 1 meter of the out-of- bounds line.

C. If the thrown disc comes to rest in-bounds but within one meter of an out-of-bounds line, the lie is marked by placing a mini marker disc up to one meter away from, and perpendicular to, the nearest out-of-bounds line. This holds true even if the direction takes the lie closer to the hole. See the following sections for other consideration in marking a thrown disc:

(1) Relocated for relief - 803.04 C (2)

(2) Interference - 803.06 A, B

(3) Above the playing surface - 803.07 A

(4) Out-of-bounds - 803.08 B

(5) Lost - 803.10 B

D. The Rule of Verticality: The out-of-bounds line represents a vertical plane. Where a player's lie is marked from a particular point within one meter of the out-of-bounds line pursuant to the rules, the one-meter relief may be taken from the particular point upward or downward along the vertical plane.

The play in question: the disc was on the side of the ditch, not OB. Where we threw from was within one meter of the lie.  Perheps I called reference to the wrong ruling, but it was still legal.

jim

Jay did all the work for us yesterday.  I was the only one needing charity......

jim

Y'all just be good little boys and show up for your butt-kickin'!  Ain't no way some fancy-britches Kenosha or Gurnee boys is gonna swipe my winnings! Woo-hoo!  Dar's gonna be some whoopin' and a-whompin' over da next two weeks!  Should be funnnnnnnn!

jim

You must be like dem dar Evanstonians, dood.......

jim

I am currently accepting 'donations' as encouragement for missing the last week of leagues . . . . . .

Acceptable donations include cash, Guiness, government cheese, and SuperElasticBubblePlastic.

jim

What a fabulous league! Brett did a great job running things, and with so many people turning out each week, it was a treemendous success!

jim

Uh-huh.  Those would be YOUR discs, Mr. BigDog!

Looks like AL is the man to beat again. I really think the turnout for this league is going to be BIG. Sounds like Sunday mornings are going to be a good time for a lot of people.
