Innova is really cranking them out this year.

One top of everything else they're released in the last few months they've got The Roadrunner (dedicated roller disc) a month or so off, and the Wraith should be out in a couple of weeks. More discs out there than I can keep track of now.

The Wraith sounds interesting for the big arms, but with my noodle arm I'll stick with my dx Orcs and Pro Starfires.

Dave from Innova's comments on the Wraith:
the Pro Wraith is a bit more stable than the Champion Orc. The Champion Wraith is a bit more stable than the Pro Wraith.

the Wraith is not a hyzer flip disc unless you are a 500 ft thrower. It is more high speed stable than an Orc, and about the same on low speed overstability. The Pro Starfire is much easier to get distance with a hyzer flip type throw. The Wraith has to be thrown with a slight anny. It gets its distance from a combination of speed and glide.

the Pro and Champion Wraith will probably have the same rating although the Champion will be slightly more high speed stable. It is our first 11 speed disc. The numbers will probably be 11, 5, 0, 3

sweet! i'll have to get a light ass if it's 11 in speed. wow!

Hah, someone on the PDGA boards had a good Spinal Tap reference for the 11 speed rating.

Makes you wonder how much more can be done with disc design to achieve more speed and distance within the PDGA specs.

The Wraith must be overstable as hell.  I want to see how the pro one flies.  I like the pro orcs a lot but after a little while they get too flippy and just wont come out of a right turn well enough.  This sounds like it might beat in to how a new pro orc is.  The champion one sounds like a fast firebird.  I cant wait to see the shape of this thing.

As for the roadrunner, I'll stick to my beat CE leopard for rollers.  I didnt like using the sidewinder for rollers and now that I've started throwing longer its completely out of my bag.

So my Wraiths came in the mail today from Sun King.  HOLY CRAP this thing is fast.  It makes the champ orc look like a putter it is so fast.  Its really strange because it really is an overstable disc....  But if flies so fast that it gets out really far before it fades HARD.  I was throwing mine about 400' pretty consistently today.  Parked #1 at buffalo grove a few times with it...  It is perfect for a hole like that because it goes that far and still comes in with a hard hyzer finish.  I cant wait for it to beat up a little bit so it gets a little bit of high speed turn in it.  This thing will go forever.

On a side note, I also picked up a Z Wasp (at brett's suggestion) for an overstable midrange.  Not nearly as overstable as I thought it would be.  I like it though.  Its a little more overstable than my Special Blend Roc but nothing crazy.  I think if I ever lose the special blend I'll be switching to the Z Buzz.  They have to fly very similarly.

my z-wasp flies exactly like the '05 Glow CE Roc I traded away.  They are pretty much identical discs.

mike said it, the wraith is the fastest disc ive ever seen. it took me from 280 to 315.

Mike S

So Ive been throwing the Wraith some more, and maybe it loses some of that speed after you beat it in a little bit.  It seemed like it was much faster the first few times I threw it.  Its still faster than my orcs but not mindblowingly faster.  I think the pro orc is still going to be my main distance disc.  I need to pick up a few more before they stop making them.

I have had the same problem with the z-wasp.  I had a early run wasp that was overstable, lost it in the ocean though.  Bought this wasp to replace it and it flew straight as hell even a flex most of the time.  The one thing it did do was come back at the end, so I have kept it for a those type of shots.
I would recommend the drone, very overstable, I use mine on multiple holes at Morley Field.
The other overstable mid-range people love out here is the Gator by Innova.  I do not throw it but lots of people do here.

Orcs are being run in the Special Blend plastic for the 2006 Am Worlds.  The first 500 are available for pre-order from www.2006amworlds.org and ship out on 9/28.  I just ordered one of each color, red and blue.  They are gonna sell out fast if they havent already.

I got a few wraiths and don't really care for them, they get too stable at about 340 for me... it may be fast... but the distance is not that great...  not that much glide..   Maybe I need to break them in more.  A new Dx beast or Proline Starfire is still my go to long distance driver that I can easily get 425+ from...

But what do I know... I'm rated at 912.
Let us hope that the whores of evil no longer loiter on the doorsteps of your path beckoning you into the brothel of despair, and that here and after may present them with the most rigid manistfestation of a firm and manly will.

ahh, mine must have shown up then as well.  I have been out of town for work for the last few days destroying my hands working in an automotive component plant.  I tried to play a round yesterday after I got home and nothing was really working right.  I did manage to rip a few good drives at least.  I definitely have to try and get a quick 9 in after work if these discs are in.  SB plastic is great.  I think I like it better than old CE.
