Quote...I think a lunch option may work for out of the way locations like Rockford or even Fairfield. Don't add it to the price but advetise and then sell food. Maybe a local vender can be enticed to send a small crew....
At most of our venues we can not sell food. We can make cook and serve food to the players and volunteers but we can't sell it for cash (to sell food for cash requires additional permits and licenses that we don't have to obtain in order to run a tournament).

Bringing in a vendor is a good idea. We would put the responsibility of obtaining the proper permits and licenses (many local vendors would already have them if they sell at the local fair or 4th of July celebrations outside of their restaurant).

If anyone works at, owns or knows of a local restaurant that would like to cater at one or more of the 2006 IOS stops, please have them contact me.
I will check around. I know a couple of people. I'll see if they'll be interested.

I know a guy who owns and runs hot dog stands.  I will talk to him and see if something could be done.  I could run it one day and i could probably get my little brother to run it the other day.  I dont know which tournaments we could bring it to eihter.

i deliver for two different restaurants in glencoe and both are usually looking to cater events like this,  most of the courses are pretty far away from where i am (glencoe) but maybe they would be willing to send out a cook or just have someone deliver it(we expect bg tips) ill ask them

Can we add Mokena into the IOS rotation next year? 2 rounds o 27 sounds mighty nice.

So, how about if one leg of the IOS Series was a bring-your-own-partner doubles tournament?

That probably wouldnt work out too well.  Thats pretty much Gary Lewis country.

What I would like to see is tournament-specific stamps on discs, instead of the entire IOS series stamps.

Yeah I really liked the Forest City Frenzy disc!  Nice job Greg!

I still haven't played Bartlett but would you consider having a tournament there?

The ultimate course addition for 2006 in my opinion would be the Sinnissippi Open in Sterling. It would in fact become one of the premier events of the series for the following reasons:

1. The existing TD wants someone to take it over, he only wants to play (he told me so). He has nearly run this event into the ground already, which is a shame as it is one of the longest standing events anywhere.

2. The course is awesome, definitely one of the best in the state with lots of room for extra holes.

3. While the location is a little far for some around here, the event would surely draw 150 players from all over (Rockford, Quad Cities, etc.) expanding the reach of the IOS across the state.

4. There are people in the area that could help tremendously like Greg has in Rockford.

PLEASE CONSIDER IT!

i would probably play, but strongly prefer singles events.  i am assuming this would be an unsanctioned doubles event as there is no point in sanctioning a doubles.

you sanction doubles tourneys for points.

I am not interested in a doubles event. I can play doubles every night of the week around here.

I don't think of a bring your own partner doubles tournament the same way that I think about doubles leagues. I think a doubles leg would be a lot of fun. It's a chance to play doubles with someone that you want to play doubles with. Plus a lot of people can't play doubles every night of the week because we have to work!  :D

I agree with Jon, random doubles and bring your own partner is two different things.  I would like to play a doubles event.

I am not opposed to going into anyone else's territory when it is a friendly thing.  If Jon and Brett want to do Sinissippi and the Sinissippi TD wants to let go of that event in 2006, that would be something to consider.

As to doubles, you sanction doubles for points, for cheap insurance if you need it, for exposure on the PDGA Tour Page at pdga.com and because your players want to play sanctioned events.  I think our players would trust us to treat them right at an unsanctioned event.  I could go either way on sanctioning.

If you guys wanted to start throwing Discraft, and if we had volunteers doing the artwork, we could do individual tournament hotstamps.  Currently we are not selling enough Discraft to do this, and Innova's tournament stamping pricing makes it too expensive to do Innova custom stamps.

I would not be interested . Fringe players do not get asked to go to the prom. We only go stag.

Bruce, I can definately help you with the stamp designs. I am an Industrial Designer and I have the sofware to do the work at home or during down time at work.

If you need to take a look at some samples of my work let me know. I can also get any type of banners or signage made.

Would you be willing to design a series of stamps even though the rest might not get made if the first one doesn't sell fast enough?

What kind of cost for the banners? Having an IOS banner would be cool.

Does anyone think we will sell more Discraft if we have individual tournament stamps on them?

if the stamps are cool and are on good discs like the z buzz, flick, or cryztal z challenger i think they would go very quick.

I would be intrested in participating in the Discraft 1 disc ace race next year if discontinuum hosted it.  Was there even one in IL this year?  I checked the calendar of events on Discraft's website but I didn't see anything for IL

Why not do a contest for the disc stamps this year???  There is quite a bit of artistic talent here.  If everyone voted on the best design, the discs might sell better.  I would definitely be willing to participate.  The winner would merely receive a set of discs with their design on it.  With winter coming, there is plenty of time for that.
