Attached is a copy of the 2003 Winter League Information. Please look at it very carefully. Is there any information that needs to be added. Double check dates, CTP's, etc... I want to have this ready to hand out at the last fall best shot.

Thanks!

Heh, that's funny... NOT!

Hey bruce - did you forget your BB password or something? You registered last September but always post as an anonymous person. If you used your account again you could get into the club area... Just a suggestion.

Now, back to your regularily scheduled topic.
Don't forget your towel!

mirth

Yeah, it doesn't ask because anonymous posting is allowed. If you click the login link on the top of the page there should be a link for 'forgot password'. If that doesn't work, let me know and I'll reset your password & email it to you.

mirth

not much now, but you can send/receive private messages as well as get into the private club area (as soon as I grant the rights... give me 5 minutes)

The wife wishes you all to know that we are on crack for playing in weather such as today... 5 degree temps, -15 wind chill... I told her, 'yup, we are. disc golf is like crack.'

I hope you all are wearing extra layers... its gonna be a cold one!

Apologies for slacking.... league results have been updated on the club site.

Thanks for crunching those numbers, Brett!  As I see it, we are right on track. Sure, our entry fee for leagues in higher, but the payouts are also pretty good. Not many of the club's members come to leagues consistently. Who does? The Ams & new folks keep coming in. Let's keep them in and keep new folks coming too.   I believe we did a good thing when we voted to not involve cash for end-of-league payouts (we voted on this at the last 2 Quonset Pizza meetings). Paying out only in plastic and framed certificates will save the club $35+ dollars each league.

Also, having 3 Blast-type events (with the straight-to-club percentage increasing from 10% to 15%) will help a LOT!

Also, acquiring a tourney-only sponsor will save us money on what we pay for players' packages.

Acquiring a Juniors-only sponsor will ensure we lose no money on Junior leagues (Bill and Brett put some cash out of their own pockets this summer).

We are doing great and being fiscally responsible. After speaking (via email) to several clubs across the country, we seem to be dong beter than most, yet not as profitable as some.  You've got to remember we are going for a balance, NOT to imitate other clubs, but to provide more events as well as fairer payouts & structures. When we close out 2003 with $1000+ in our bank account (AFTER all bills are paid), we will have built a most successful dg club.  THAT IS MY PERSONAL GOAL before I am booted out of office.

Thanks to everyone who shares this vision - and those who do not. Variety and different perspectives make not only the world, but our club, spin round. It also makes us stronger.

jim

What a great start to leagues!  Strong turnout & a new face as well - welcome Damon!

Sorry I had to book so quickly - had to drive downstate.  Yesterday was a ton of FUN playing in the snow!  Woo-hoo!

jim

OK, out of state players should multiply their scores by .05

Now, if you SWAM across the lake, then we could take points incentives......

jim

Sorry I bailed today, but it was a good thing I did, believe me! Thanks Brett for keeping all the stats updated and thanks Jojo for the ssweeeet dyejob baby!

Has anyone heard from Al Gutierrez?

CEValkyrie

I see what you are saying Shawn. I think you have a good idea but I know Bevier does not have the big crowds like Parkside, or as many loyal & understanding disc golfers, thus I think we have to find ways to get new people and keep bringing them back. Once we establish the connection I think we can change a few things. With help from our sponsors, getting discs to give away as prizes will not be $ out of our pocket. For example, with only 2 weeks to go, only Jim, Mirth, & I have made it every week. I would be willing to use my free disc as a CTP for the AM players the next league. This may give a little more incentive to come each week. $8.00 is rather expensive than other leagues but it benefits as well. Looking at the #'s, we do pretty good for a 10 week league. I think our members should benefit from coming each week, supporting the club.

Good points Myk. Believe me, we are not going to lose money. At this point, the club pays for itself. The only way we are going to give out discs as prizes for perfect attendance is if one of our sponsors give us discs. Jim is putting pressure on DGW & SunKing. We have been giving them good business over the past few years. Just think, 200 cutsom stamped discs, league prize disc, & safari basket. Hopefully one of them will come through!

I agree Jim! If we could clear $1,000 for the 2003 season, that would be a very awesome year. A majority of that will come from the 3 events we host this year & leagues. That is why i firmly believe that the club should pay for itslef (not lowering payouts & screwing members). The big bucks will come from sponsors if we are able to get some. Ok, back to the winter league. Anyone else look it over?

Looks like a white start to the winter league. One good thing is that the wind predictions on weatherchannel.com are for under 5mph tomorrow. Anyway to get the Waukegan weather put on the index2?

WEEK 1 POINTS

**Note**

I missed a tie for 5th & 6th place.

Al & Pat tied Mirth & Myk for 5th Place. Both teams shot a 47 for -7. Hopefully all 4 will be there next Sunday for a CTP to break the tie. It is a difference of 1 point, but who knows, that 1 point might be the difference after 10 weeks.
