There is going to be a design contest for 2006 bag tags. We are going to be ordering leather tags again. The winner of this design gets a free 2006 membership & bag tag.

Here is what the bag tag needs to include.
1. DISContinuum Disc Golf Club or DISContinuum DGC
2. www.discontinuum.org
3. 2006 Bag Tag Challenge
4. Obviously a place for a #

Here is how the process is going to work.

Mirth is going to post the specs for each shape. There are a few different shapes that can be used (Circle, Shield, & Square).
The round tag is 3.5" across
The shield is 3 x 3.5
The rectangle is 3.5 x 4.5

In all designs, please leave 1/4" margin on all sides.

You can only submit 1 design.
Submit the design to Mirth @ webmaster@discontinuum.org
They must be submitted by 10/31/05.

Please do not post designs on the message board. Mirth is going to be the only member that knows who the designer is. If you want to submit it from some e-mail address that he does not recognize, that is fne. We want to keep this anonymous until a design has won the contest.

If there are more than 5 submissions, the club board is going to vote & narrow the submissions down to 5.

Those 5 (if 5) will be posted on the club members section of the message board and voted for by the membership. They will be posted on 11/07/05. Club members have until 11/14/05 to vote. A winner will be declared & bag tags will be ordered. We plan on having the tags by January 1, 2006.

I'll probably be submitting a tag design.  Something simple.  Something that screams, "Disc golf!"

 You know, like a carp, leaping out of the water, jumping over a floating VW Beetle, with a feather duster clenched in his teeth, and with the constellation Orion setting on the horizon in the background.

Does the club have an "official logo?" Would it be the one on the home page of the website?

Mirth: any updates on the dimensions?

Mirth: any updates on the dimensions?
We have not adopted an official logo. The website logo is our current website logo, the embroidered shirt logo is our current embroidered shirt logo, etc. You should not feel constrained to use any previously used club logos as long as the other specifications are met.

They should be able to accept an .ai doc. It's adobe illustrator and because that is a vector based program, resolution isn't an issue. When you send them the art, just make sure you save it out of Illustrator, don't make it a PDF, just save as an .ai and they should be just fine with that.  You may want to convert all type to outlines also before you send it. That way you don't have to worry about any font issues that may arrive.

I'm sorry, the attachment you posted had a .ai suffix. I thought it was already an adobe illustrator document.

I know it doesn't matter now, but, what format was it originally in?

Unless a design was submitted between 10:30 & 12 last night, there have been 5 designs submitted. There are some quality designs & this vote will be fun!. Thanks to those of you who turned in a design. I'll thank you by name when I know who turned them in.

They will be posted on the club members only section on 11-7. Each member will be able to vote. If you are a club member, you need a user name & must contact Mirth to have your account upgraded so you can access the club members only section.

We'd appreciate if you do not discuss the designs until after the vote is final. We want a design to win that you think is the best. We've tried to handle this in an organized manor giving credibility to the process. Mirth is the only member that knows who submitted which designs & of course the person that submitted the design.

2005 DISContinuum Club Members,

There have been 4 designs submitted for the DISContinuum 2006 Bag Tag Design Contest. Every club member has a vote to choose the best 2006 design. Voting opens on 11-06-05 and ends 11-20-05. The winner of this design wins a free 2006 club membership and bag tag. We will be ordering leather tags again this year that should arrive by January 1st.

You may vote several ways. The four designs will be posted in the club member's only section of the message board for viewing. You can e-mail president@discontinuum.org or you can private message CEValkyrie on the discission board with your vote. Please include your name and the number of the design that you are voting for. If you don't have access to the club member's only section of the message board you must register a user name then private message Mirth. He will upgrade your account so you can access the club member's only section. You can also vote in person at leagues over the next three weeks or you can vote at the club meeting on 11-20-05. We will have printed copies of the design for viewing. You may also call Brett Comincioli to place your vote if the other options are not possible. His number is (847) 858-4368. YOU CAN ONLY VOTE FOR ONE DESIGN. A winner will be announced after final voting is done at the club meeting.
