Disc Golf Live

Hi, folks.

Here's a note about Disc Golf Live video magazine.

Disc Golf Live video magazine is produced for broadcast on local community access TV stations. The show brings one hour of DG to local communities anywhere there are folks willing to submit the show for broadcast. Free copies of the show are available, too!  Even if you don't have public access where you are but know someone who does, let me know, so the show can be seen in as many communities as possible.

Disc Golf Live is all about disc golf. The current episode features a lesson on the forehand throw, along with coverage of the 2004 Great Lakes Open and the 2003 Homie's Fall Classic.

Please visit www.discgolflive.com for details on how to get your free copy of the show. Disc Golf Live also welcomes video submissions from anyone interested in helping out with the show. The show is a great way to bring your corner of the DG world to others around the country. Thanks to Innova and the Professional Disc Golf Association for supporting Disc Golf Live!

Disc Golf Live

Hi, Chains -

Unless someone submits the show to a given station, it won't be playing.  It takes a local resident sponsor on most stations to begin broadcasts.  I couldn't track down a website for a Schaumburg station, but watch the channel for a few minutes some time and they should provide contact info.  Give them a call or check their website to see what it takes to be able to submit a show for broadcast.  Once you determine that DGL can play, contact me and I'll get a tape into your hands so you can bring disc golf to your local community.

If you know of folks in other communities served by community access TV, send them my way and I'll work with them on bring DGL to their stations.

Thanks.

any thoughts on what it would take to get this on chicago

looks like someone from chicago would have to buy the subscription,  fill out the paperwork  and submit accordingly
-----

only thing i saw on the can tv website was this

Are there any restrictions on program content?

Programs must not contain any of the following: gambling, obscenity, solicitation of funds or other property, advertising, promotion of commercial products and/or services, misrepresentation or illegalities such as libel, slander, defamation, invasion of privacy or publicity rights, unfair competition or copyright violation. While CAN TV conducts business in English, you are welcome to submit programs in languages other than English.

so the questions are   --

is there  "  advertising, promotion of commercial products "  on the broad cast and to what extent  ?

would the club be interested in sponsoring the subscription ?

would the club consider doing a promo show  ?

Disc Golf Live

Hi, Spuds.

Haven't visited the Chicago station websites very recently, but if I remember correctly the show should play locally if there is a resident to submit it.  There might be more than one opportunity in the area as well, since there are probably some stations in the suburbs.

Station websites are the best way to get squared away on what it would take to get the show on, but most of the stations are pretty easy to work with once you get to know them.  In general terms, the bigger the city, the more hoops to jump through.  Usually this is paperwork or training session/orientation type stuff, maybe a membership fee.

I provide the shows via DVD.  A person on the local end can use that to make whichever submission format is necessary.  Usually this is VHS or SVHS, sometimes miniDV.  A few broadcast directly from DVD, and I've got a special version for those cases.

The shows have a brief "thanks to our underwriters" bit at the beginning and end, nothing outrageous.  One or two folks have to excise this on the local end to meet station standards, and that's ok.  I provide extra minutes at the end where local info can be inserted, or the show can be shortened a bit as needed, again to meet varying station standards.

The shows are provided free of charge to broadcast partners, although I welcome the support of  individuals and clubs who take the opportunity to purchase a subscription.  I also welcome material submitted by disc golfers or others interested in getting their story on the air.

I mailed out episode 9 last week, let me know if there's progress on your end and I'll get a copy to whomever needs one.

Thanks.

Joe
