I'm playing the TADGA Ice Bowl tomorrow, PDGA sanctioned C-tier.  TADGA is Toledo Area.  The course is kind of lame, very flat, and half under water when it melts, so I did not invite anyone.  Also, Kira is having a birthday sleep over so we could not host visitors.  The course will be 90% melted and then refrozen, so that will be great.  I've only played it in scattered ankle deep floodiness, so dry and frozen will be a new look for me.

This is Kelsey's first sanctioned tournament since the new ratings bumped half her competition up to Men's Intermediate, and these guys don't know her and have never been beaten by her before.   >:D  So even if JenJen or BobbysGurl show up, I think Kelsey is out for scalps.  Gurl scalps don't count!

A couple of years ago they expanded the course from nine to 18 and the newer holes are all longer.  They left the original nine as was and it is deuce or die.  The longer holes have one or two two-throw holes and some bonus birdies.

The course should be a good fit to Kelsey's skills.

So when we got there a woman was signed up for advanced and someone said she was the best am woman in the state.  I assumed they meant Ohio since I was not familiar with her name, and then Kelsey decided to play Am Women.  While we were playing some practice holes I tried to figure out, by asking, whether Kelsey really wanted to play Am Women or Rec Men, and I made it really clear that mainly I just wanted Kelsey to have fun and play in the division she really wanted to play in.  She decided we should double check on tees and if Am Women and Mens Rec were definately playing the same course all day long, she'd rather play with the only other girl.  So she stayed in Am Women and then the TD put the two women on different cards!

Kelsey won by 13 or 14 throws, whatever it says on pdga.com tomorrow.  She was one behind the men's rec winner, again, unless PDGA.com says otherwise.  In the morning she was in a foursome with three rec men and she beat them all.  One guy got B-BAG syndrome and quit after about ten holes!  The others were o.k. with it when they found out that Kelsey was in the Advanced Women's division and often plays in the pro women's division.

The tournament was a little funky but we had fun.  They did not use a leaderboard which caused some confusion with hole assignments, especially since some of the baskets and tees are misnumbered due to some course improvements.  They played by TADGA rules, i think, rather than PDGA rules, but I was fine with it.  I just expect funky when I'm not the hand inside the puppet running the tournament!  I did a long post on rules stuff at PDGA.com but said over and over that we had fun and enjoyed the tournament.

Now that I've played a tournament under the new rules I'm seeing some things i did not see before.  The new rules are even worse than I thought.
