Comparable disc to the Discraft Hawk?

I'm throwing an Discraft Elite-Z Hawk as my main mid-range and long putts.  I'm not sure if Discraft is making them anymore or not, and I was wondering if anyone has thrown this disc and knows of a similar disc in feel and behavior.  It looks like a Shark as well as a Roc, but I don't know how they react in comparison when thrown.

I know lots of people like the Roc, but I'd like to hear if you've at least tried the Hawk as well.

So Buzzz would be a better option than a Wasp?  I know that the Buzzz is supposed to be a faster version of the Wasp, but yeah, I forgot about the Buzzz.  I'm bidding on one right now, hopefully I'll be able to pick that up and giving it a try.

If you like the Hawk, the Wasp will be too overstable.  Jon used to thow Z-Hawks.  He might have one he'd part with, unless he still throws them.  Also, if you play our tournaments, we can get you Pro D Hawks.

I gave my Z Hawks to a family playing Streamwood with generic saucers and large Frisbees. I switched from the Hawk to the Buzzz once I tried the Buzzz. I really liked the low speed flight of the Hawk but I think it gets too unpredictable at higher speeds. I also use a Wasp when I want something more overstable than the Buzzz and I'll use the Wasp for drives on a short hole before the Buzzz unless I need the disc to fade to the right during the flight. The Buzzz has great low speed flight and good predictable flight at higher speeds.

By predictable what I mean is that the difference between throwing something flat and burning it out is fairly large, whereas with the Hawk there is a fine line between a nice flat flight and burning out. Before anyone reading this does the "click, click, OH, back, back" I should point out that I have a pretty good short game and am pretty good at junk shots to get out of trouble. I don't have great distance off the tee and I'm not a consistant putter---which is reflected in my rating. But if you want to learn 12 different ways to throw your upshot, just see me.

I think a lot of Discraft throwers would agree with you on the Hawk/Buzzz thing.  I think that's why the Hawk is discontinued.  A flat-top Buzzz is going to be closest to a Hawk among the the various Buzzzes.  The Buzzz GT might be Hawk-like but with greater predictability.  The Z-Storm probably flies more like a Z-Hawk than anything I can think of in candy plastic.  It has been a long time since the Z-Hawk was in my bag.

OK, I'll bite, "click, click, oh, back, back".  I've seen Bruce say that on the PDGA boards and now you here, call me ignorant, but what exactly does that mean?

I would also recomend:

Buzz = E element
Wasp = E or S element X

I would take a beat S element X over any of the above listed discs (lemme have it buzz fans).

I think the Element is very Buzzz-like in flight, but I don't know their plastic codes.  I've thrown the one made out of what Innova and Discraft call D plastic.  Very good disc.  I'm not sure if it is Hawk-like.

"Click, click, oh, back, back," means two clicks away you can find the poster's rating and then discount his opinion according to his rating, if you think his rating might somehow have a bearing on his opinion.  It is the equivalent of saying, "Consider the source."  It is derived from the recent discussion of Pat Brenner's very short lived Ratings Rankings that were shot down by some pussy on the PDGA board of directors who did not like his rating being so visible. 

On Discontinuum a member's rating is two clicks away if you know who he is, but not a non-member's or an anonymous poster's.

I have 14 brand new DGA hawkeyes left over from the first Steady Ed memorial event...   Same as a Hawk...  but not Z plastic..  Have white, red, yellow and blue... 170-172g..   10 bucks each if interested..

So far I've seen a LOT better durability with my gateway discs.  I whacked a tree extremely hard with a Sabre (and i'm pretty sure it's an S too), and there wasn't a mark on the disc at all.  Very nice.  I want to try out the E-Sabre though.
