Which division should I play ?

i see you played in 3 divisions last year and got points for each one  (mitch W)

was your invite to worlds based on adv master ?

i will turn 40 in may and havent been playing much disc lately but planning on playing more this year

my rating is 902  so i can play intermediate if i wanted or adv master but if i play well and the rating goes up
will i be bumped up  ? and then have points split

am i better off playing adv master all year to get points for next years worlds in wi ?

looking at the homie T i would have been tied for 4 th place

the goal for this year is to play more and try to play in the thurs nite oly fields best shot league regularly or wed nite joliet league

the kid isnt playing any sports so i will have more free time on my hands

So if i play well  will i get the sandbagger label ?
if i play well i can just play trophey only right  ?

the goal is to get invite to WI next year and i m thinking adv masters is the way to go ?

Like mirth and damon said, points are cumulative for all Am divisions that you've played.  It doens't matter.  However, you get more points for beating people in advanced than you do for beating people in intermediate.  BUT, its possible that you would beat alot more people in intermediate than you would in advanced, so maybe there are more points for you in intermediate.

My advice would be to play intermediate, since that is a bigger division and that would be more fun for me.  However, alot of masters guys enjoy playing with people in their own age group, so maybe you'd enjoy advanced master more.  In either division I believe you would be competitive.

Ding!  That's correct.  There are only two kinds of points, pro and am.  Also, once you get invited you can play any division you are eligible for.  The best strategy for getting an invitation on points is to play in the division where you can beat the most people.  This is going to vary from tournament to tournament depending on what divisions are being offered, but for a 902 Am Master, Intermediate is almost always your best bet.  

If you can down to Bowling Green Kentucky in three weeks, that is your one-stop opportunity to get into Worlds 2007.  Last year 900 rated golf in Advanced or Intermediate was good for enough points for a Tulsa Worlds invitation this year.  900 rated golf in Am Master won't do it there or anywhere.

Just a sidenote on qualifying for Milwaukee Worlds.

If you can't play enuf this year to initially get invited, don't freak out about it.  You can still go!

In 2003 I know that Brett, Nasty Nate, and myself did NOT get invited to the Des Moines Worlds, but we all applied for the Wait List and were then able to go.  The same may have been true for Damon, but I'm not sure.

But, with all the tourneys in the area this year, you shouldn't have to try too hard to get enough points so you don't have to worry wait lists.

That's true, I wasn't on the initial list (it was 2004 actually.)  I did get invites for 05 and 06, but I didn't go/not going to either of those.

Unless my body completely collapses (which seems like a distinct possibility this morning) I hope to collect enough points in int for Adv GM in Milwaukee 07... which is a bit ironic considering that WI tournaments don't offer Adv GM...
