Hello all, if some remember I posted here before on moving up north to the area and had some questions about tourneys that you guys answered for me.
Well it looks like we are moving up in December and I now have another question. I am moving from Baton Rouge, Louisiana where there are rarely sanctioned events and no organazation. You just play in whatever devision you want which sucks because people linger when they should move up.
Now I know the PDGA has tiers and there are alot of sanctioned events up there. How do I know what Tier I am? Here I play amatuer/intermediate; is that the same there? I checked out a list of tourneys up in that area and got confused by the Tiers and system that you guys use.
So any help would be great and I am looking forward to moving up and making some new DG friends and of course competing in tourneys.
Thanks,
Michael.

Mike what is your pdga rating?

mnkdrt

LOL, I am not sure. I just joined the PDGA a couple months ago becasue it was suggested to go ahead and do it because I was moving up North. I have only played 1 sanctioned event this summer, only because there havent been any others in my area yet other then that one. I did check but my rating from the whopping 1 sanctioned event is not posted yet on the PDGA.
I cant wait to get out of this Southern Nationals Reign of inorganization and compete in a more organized place.
Thanks,
Michael.

If you have only played one sanctioned event, start out in the Rec Division and see how you do.  You can always work up from that point.  I would say that most people in this area do a very good job of playing in divisions where the skill levels are compatible.  In my opinion, with my limited experience, it seems the Wisconsin players try and push people up into the higher divisions a little sooner than they may be ready to move up.

Sounds good. Thanks for the help and I guess I will see you out there.
Later.

You'll have a rating by the time you get here.  Your TDs will be fine with you playing whatever division your rating says you should play.  After six years of having ratings, that idea is catching on.
